Dry heat

Must say the weather is much better here in Lost Wages with lots of sunshine. Gonna be around 110 degrees this after noon. We really got tired of the damp dreary cloudy weather in the Portland Ore-Gun area and jumped into the frying pan. But it’s a dry heat !

The pain of stiff joints is slowly disappearing which is a most positive thing. Would we ever go back ? Not on your life !

I have lots of room for a table top layout outdoors but have to wait till the fall for construction. Now building a layout in two of the bedrooms for my O gauge stuff.

What ever it takes to enjoy the hobby eh?

Cheers, TOF in Lost Wages.

So if there’s a layout in the spare bedroom, where am I gonna stay when I visit?

Why in one of the other spare bedrooms of course. Oh ! , there is four of these but we will like for those who visit to stay in the downstairs one.

Anything else ?

St Aubins used to be just a few blocks away but moved on the other side of town. Still a good place to see or buy trains. Couple of good trains stores around town besides St A.

Please buy your train stuff before visiting the casinos as they still do like your money and will try their best to relieve you of it.

I’ll bet there’s some real neat exotic car shops as well!
I don’t gamble in the casinos. I just look (stare, ogle, etc) at the pretty bar girls.
My wife does the gambling.

John

Oh the pretty girls are there and one might find a car shop or two. Imperial Palace Hotel-Casino has a nifty old time car collection.

The girls are of a most recent vintage.

Oh ! Did I mention the girls ? Badda Bing, OH to be young again !

Darryl,

I’ve been following your escapades, didn’t think your move north was a good thing.

Pleased with your return and the financial gain.

I’m jealous, but nothing I can do about until I hit the lottery.

Darryl, enjoy.

Ain’t reached 70 here today yet.

Hi Barry

We left LV just shortly after the peak of the home prices started to fall. Bought a house in Ore-Gun and watched the value go up quite a bit. We decided to sell a couple months ago as prices were started to drop quite a bit there. Found a good deal on a bank repo here so now you know the rest of the story.

Kind of warm today eh? Ahh damn hot really 111 degrees

Cheers Barry the oldfardt in Lost Wages

it was 78 here today

Darryl and Geoff,

Was 112 here today and the humidity was in the high forty percentiles, not dry. They’re forecasting 114/115 for Saturday/Sunday with the same high humidity.

I was able to run my swamp cooler until a week ago.

Darryl, when my wife passed she gave our house to the step-daughter. I got a bit of cash and cut loose.
The house was purchased for 175 in '94 and it was in the low 300s after I left. The best deal I could find was here,
so I’m kinda stuck. But it works.

Barry we are in for a great weekend. 75 on saturday and 78 on sunday. Lows in the 50’s. Nice break from the heat and humidity. 70% to high 90’s in the norm for St. Louis in the humidity, and high 90’s for heat.

Barry,
Move up here.
I’ll assist you in your shop.

We must be having a “cold wave” here on California’s high desert. We were 105 on Friday but still cooling off to the 50s-60s. But here in Pinon Hills we’re at 4,000 feet.

Barry

I have followed your bit from Vegas to Phoenix and of course I think you got screwed, $25000 parting is a shame. Been there too as I gave up a nifty home up Sacramento way and the ex sold it for next to nothing for spite.

Moving on was the best salvation, at least for me. Hey if you get up this way give me a holler.

Oh ya ! Over 110 degrees again today and probably tomorrow. You are getting the same or a tad more I see. Keep cool…;

Cheers, TOF

Well, who wants to talk temp/humidity?

Today officially, I think it was 114+ and 47+ humidity. On my carport it hit 118.8. I was here in the early 1970’s and I don’t remember a “Monsoon”, but I was coming from Dallas. But these temps with the humidity is a killer.

LV has the temps, but never saw the humidity.

But, I think they have the best city government I have ever lived under. Amazing. Their Newspaper was very very good. I had been living under the Dallas Morning News, Chicago Tribune, didn’t take a newspaper in New York, but take the Arizona Republic here, but don’t read their editorial/opinion pages.

Darryl, like I said “if I hit the lottery I’ll be back”.

We came close on Saturday. The National Weather Service said it was supposed to be in the low 100s and it streaked to 113! We only had a few rumbles of thunder and dry lightening but not that miserable humidity! It;s too hot for trains outside unless you go out about 4 a.m.!
