Large Scale Central

DRGW BAGGAGE CAR

This is my first attempt at scratch building with styrene. I like working in 20.3 scale. I buy my styrene in 4’X 8’ sheets in .040, .080 and .125 thickness. I cut out the inner walls out of .080 and then laminate Evergreen V-grove siding. [url=http://img81.imageshack.us/i/1005755.jpg/]

Cool!

Very!!

Nice! Looks like you’ve got a real good start there.

Hey Rodney,

Great looking baggage car! BTW I noticed your location as “Leavenworth”, would that be in Washington?

Chuck

Great modeling Rodney. That baggage car really look sharp. An encouragement in fact: I just have to decide on the model. lol

Very nice.
Where do you find 4’x8’ sheets of styrene and how much does it cost ?
Ralph

Rodney,
Your skills are showing again. Great look!

Nice job, Rod. I guess the shoulder is getting better.

Nice to see the progress on those, Rodney. They sure look great.

Okay, I’ll bite. What’s with the two of clubs on your workbench?

P.S. Nice workmanship.

Nice project.
How did you widen the Bachmann roofs?

I’ve been thinking of doing something like this. Tired of waiting for my Accucraft set.

Not bad for a one armed guy, makes us two arm guys feel like we need to get with it! Rodney is in Kansas by the way.

It shows goes to show, you got to play with the hand your dealt. ;-)

That is looking really good–sharp and neat. deal yourself some aces!

Wonderful work. I’d like to see a bit more detail on how you converted the Bachmann roofs.

Yes the shoulder is getting better. I can use my hand just have to keep
my arm from moving at the shoulder.
Thanks

Alan
I found a line drawing on the net and used some info that I found in the NGSL Gazette
on DRGW passenger cars. Also used a AMS car for height and some other details.

Chuck
As Jerry said, I’m in Kansas

Ralph
I get it from Regal Graphic, a division of Regal Plastic
.040 is $21
.080 IS $36
.125 IS $47

David
I have a old deck of cards that I use to mix epoxy on and to put glue on

John
When I do my next roof, I will take a series a pictures. That will be easier
than trying to tell you.

Thank for the encouragement
Rodney

Really nice Rodney. Look forward to the rest

Rodney,
Did you ever get around to photographing your technique for converting the Bachmann car roofs, especially how you hid the joints? I’m trying to work that out myself right now and I’d sure appreciate knowing how you did such a superlative job. Thanks!

That's for his next project...

…a club car!

Looks great. I’m interested in the roof technique, too.
