Doug's 2014 Build Challenge -- 2014 -- Undertaker

The undertaker came to visit the new Undertaker-Furniture store today to check on progress. The siding on the left side is done and the carpenters started on the right side today.

The front of the building will be done next and the roof has to be done before it rains.

That is a nice picture Doug. Got a real Wild West look to it. Way to go.

Doc Tom (out East)

John, I’m going to try my hand at making molds of those Victorian windows and the door and see if I can make some for other buildings.

Joe, I suppose that they shot up the signs nor long before they shot him. In Bodie they sure shot a lot of people!

If it works out, I’ll buy some from you. Your build is coming along fine.

The carpenters weren’t around so the town’s regulars set up shop.

The boards are on the building but the battens aren’t started yet. All the boards are individually cut to fit.

It’s time-consuming but I like the look.

I’m using standard framing.

Nice! Very nice!

Tom

very nice Doug. Can’t wait to see it at the open house.

Nice build Doug.

Looks good Doug.

That is a fine model Doug. The sidings look quite realistic and your window frames are superb. Good work.

The construction supervisor on the Undertaker and Furniture Maker building waits for the painters and roofing team to arrive.

The battens and some other finishing touches on the building were finished on schedule today.

Merchandise is quickly arriving.

Progress continued on the Undertaker’s new building. The “Diet Dr. Pepper” roof is done.

Tonight’s a late night for the construction crew.

Stop it Doug!

You are scaring me!

The crew made it back in time to finish up! The side picture, below, has a truck driven by one of the townspeople. He bought it from Mik about five years ago.

And here’s the back door. The entire town is coming to pick the building up and move it 90 degrees to improve the light!

For some reason pictures and editing are only working sometimes. The truck in the foreground is one I purchased from Mik about five years ago.

Nice model and nice truck.

Tom

At 5 p.m. (PST) the town turned out to move the building for the photographer. They didn’t stay just in case a ghost arrives at dark!
