I had seen single pushers at the end of coal trains on the UP line for quite awhile. Now I see them with two pushers on the back. Started seeing a single pusher on the container trains awhile back, now see an occasional one of those with two pushers on the back.
In south central PA it’s a rare site to see a single pusher…
I think it is a sign of the times. They ran short a pusher before because they did not have the extra unit avaialble. Now that they have idle power they can assign the extra pusher. Around here it seems every passing siding and small yard is parked full of idle cars. i’ve not been around to see if the coal moves thru town have any extra service or not? By the time I hear the horns it would be too late for me to get down into town to see the train.
Chas
I had that same thought Chas.
I think if we can railfan it, we can model it currently or pretend how it used to be within our basements or backyards !
I also think Jerrys next project after finishing the Streamliner’s interior is “2” pushers.
I don’t have any newer diesels, my RR sorta stops at about 1955, guess there were diesels then, my FA-1(with the E-8 nose) is my newest diesel. Not sure of its era, was my first G scale buy.

on the way home from CA i saw a container train with 4 up front, 3 in the middle and 3 on the end.
first time I have seen that many helpers on a train and the first time seeing them in the middle.
