DotNetNuke Error?

Hi;

Hope I am not causing any problems, but had to ask a question. I do not frequent this site a lot, as was evidenced by the fact that I had forgotten that I was already registered here.

I just tried to sign on to myLargescale.com and got a DotNetNuke Error as the response. I know several folks here visit both sites, and both are very fine. So I’m curious. Is anybody else getting this error?

Thanks, and I apologize if I stepped on any toes,
David Meashey

No DotNetNuke Error here, but definitely so at MLS for the last 3 hours.

Hi Dave,

I got the same error message, this has happened before.

Chuckger

Wow Chuck;

Saw your location and it brought back some memories. I remember watching the Reading’s Budd RDC car pull in to the station at Schuylkill Haven. I left Orwigsburg for Allentown about 38 years ago. Grew up in the Hershey area, but have been in Roanoke, VA for the past 33 years.

Small world,

I got it this morning also.

Same here, its still going, 0945hrs, EST

Yeah, I got it again this morning at 6:50 am PDT. All too frequent lately over there!!

I never seen a web site with so many problems as MLS.

I think Shad got a raw deal on this latest internet provider deal, ever since the last ‘upgrade’ we’ve been consistently getting hosed by poor internet service, its not Shad’s fault, its whoever is supporting the web service, he said in a recent post that its problems “upstream” from him that are causing all he issues.

PS I can still access my photo hosting on MLS, so its not the entire site thats down.

No, as far as I could tell from my admittedly brief research (like about 60secs worth, lol) that the dotnetnuke is some sort of backend programming support system sitting on top of microsoft .ASP technology.

Honestly, I used to use MS Frontpage extentions in my sites I have designed. Ever since firefox came out and showed just how superior open source software can be, I realized how stupid my dedication to MS was. I’ve begun recoding all my site pages to use php and be HTML4 compliant, which means dragging all of the formatting tags out and replacing the stuff with CSS. as well as discontinuing the use of tables for positioning.

I have to agree that Shad has been doing as well as he can given his situation. My only complaint for all this is expecting anything better from a Microsoft product. Its why I ended up switching to linux.

i think, they got so many problems over there, because they want too much.
two class memberships with different features, webspace for part of the members, optimized for advertizers…
to achieve all that they had to use some expensive and faulty software.
but as model-railroaders are nearly as patient as stamp collectors, they see no real reason for a change in site politics.

just my 0.02 $

I think for the foreseeable future I will keep tabs open for both forums. It seems like there are still some nasty bugs on MLS at present. I’d hate to lose my photos, but I just don’t trust the way things are working right now.

I made three posts to a thread Jerry Barns started regarding the video of his 844 model. None of my posts are viewable, nor is Jerry’s video link.

Hope things settle down, but at least a lot of the same folks are here as well.

Yours,
David Meashey

I have been reading a great deal about slow loading speeds over the last 4 years. I live in Canada and use a lite speed cable connection to the net. I don’t experience these problems…at all. I understand everyone’s frustration. We all enjoy these sites and its unfortunate that many are having problems. Regards, Dennis.

I think for the money he’s making, it should be a top notch web site.

Here in UK the Dot.net.nuke page lasted for three whole days.

You got that right. IMHO, the web-site here at LSC runs much better :) Things here pretty much work as they're supposed to. I don't have to edit out random code from my posts here. Nor do you have to host your photos off site if you're not a paying member ;) And here your guess is as good as anybody's as to who's a paying member and who's not. We're all the same "class" here :D Ralph

i think, that the picture storage for 1st class members is one of the reasons for the slowness of that forum.
if the forum and the pics are all hosted on the same server, they have to pass altogether through the same wire, when somebody (or many) opens a forum.
if the pics are hosted somewhere else, the pics come from somewhere else. then the limiting factor is the connection of the user, not the connection of the server.

I think from now on I’m going to stick with LSC and Trainboard.
Not much G on trainboard but the rest of the site is great.

Being a new member to LSC I enjoy the the emphasis more toward fine modeling here. I’m a little tired of the personal attacks I see at MLS. On Photo Preservation, I find Picasa Web Albums a great way to store and share my photos. I can share my individual albums Privately with family or with the world.

I certainly like it here. Lots of good information and a real friendly bunch as well.
You get 5 megs of storage for free.
And for only $20/year you get an amazing 125 megs! A great deal IMHO.
