Don't ya hate it

… when you do something like gluing a long rod into place between the two bearings that support the ends, and only then realising that you forgot to put a small gear onto the middle of the rod first?

D’oh!

Or am I the only one who does things like this. :o

I think you have more company than most are willing to admit…

I do not recall those circumstances, Senator.

Are you now ... or have you ever been ... Oh, yeah, it says it right there in your sig line. That's all right, then.

If at first you dont succeed, destroy all evidence that it was attempted in the first place.

Industrial Arts professor told me one day, “If you start out to make a dresser and it ends up as a jewelry box, as long as you are the only one that knows the difference it’s a good project.” I have a lot of good projects.

Anybody need a jewelry box?? :stuck_out_tongue:

So that's what that box on wheels is ....

No gear in center of rod. Good, but you forgot to include:

  1. Soldered lead with no shrink sleeving on wire
  2. Engine all buttoned up, but what is this little thingy for?..
  3. Cut the all the styrene strip you had for the project … to the wrong length
  4. Glued your finger to the project with CA … for the umteenth time
  5. Got more paint on your new pants than on the project
  6. Spent all day making a tiny little part … let it slip out of your fingers, and onto the floor … never to be found again … ever!

Heheh. I think I’ve done most of those at one time or another. 'Specially the “losing tiny parts” bit. One of the drawbacks to being a slob/packrat.

BTW, the model I’ve been working on is a mine hoist, loosely based on one I saw at an old mine in Austin, NV. Turned out pretty nice.

Any recognize this wretched scenario:

“Hmm, I’m not going to be using this [tool, kit, component, whatever] for a while so I’d better put it away before it gets lost.”

Weeks or months later when the item is needed, no memory of its location remains and the now desperately-needed item can’t be found.

Argh!!

This time it was a bag of tiny hinges I was saving for the door of my hoist house. :frowning:

Of course, they’ll probably turn up shortly after I replace them.

I’m the King of “lets put this where I can remember where it’s at” and then can’t remember…:frowning: And 5 years after it’s no longer needed…I find it. :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:
