Here are the “official” builder’s photos plus a closeup of the roof detail. Now all I have to do is wait until Monday.
It sure is purty, maybe a little too purty. It needs to go out and git some dirt on it. maybe some diesel exhaust too. Maybe sumptin’ like this -
by the way, what is the yellow dohickey with the antenna on top of the roof? -Brian
That is so neat! Hey, it will get dirty enough just being around…
I really like the look. I wish I could come out and ride behind it. Let’s see…a beer in one hand, controller in the other…a long track…could be VERY sweet.
Good job!
Brian, that’s a combination horn and antenna mount. All the roof detail except the headlight is held on with rubberized magnet strips (refrigerator magnet material). They are just simulated. The horns are carved out golf tees and the antenna is nothing more than a piece of brass tube with wire stuck in it, a pen spring and a washer. The flashing light in the middle of the roof actually works. It’s from back packing gear and is self contained. Exhausts are nothing more than brass tube stuck in a block of wood and weathered with the rusty stuff from Michaels. The headlight is one for electric scooters you see kids riding. It was fun trying to figure out how to come up with each of these different components and have them represented. The only thing I actually left off that I can think of is windshield wipers. Maybe some day. Bruce, wish you could make it too. But… I’d even buy the beer!
Great job Warren, can’t wait to see it run on Monday or even get a ride.
Chuck
Excellent Warren! Between you and Bruce you’re a force to be seen. Who would’ve thought that boxcabs could be so neat.
Some of us just box cabs in our heart One of my winter projects will be the Thomas Yorke box cab which I’m still anxiously awaiting.
