One of the benefits of belonging to a club is to give/get help on getting started in the hobby. The Sacramento Valley Garden Railway Society does just that. On July 20, eighteen club members and friends met at 7:30 a.m. and started building a water-wings layout.
By 2:30, the loop was closed, and not one but two trains were running. We built the roadbed on two courses of concrete blocks, cemented in place. We put rebar in the top of the ground course, as if the member wishes to fill the inside of the loop that should keep the blocks from shifting.
I don’t have any really good pictures, I was busy laying track, bending it in place, mixing concrete, and ballasting. Oh, and I managed to wash down some pizza with a non-caloric beverage.
P.S. Preview doesn’t seem to be working tonight.
