Geez.
You never have this particular procedure, they do it all the time, you don’t know what to ask and they forget to tell you.
Last Friday the eye doctor at my annual appointment says “We’ll see you at the hospital this Thursday”.
What the fXXk for?
Seems they’ve been watching this narrow-angle something or other for years and decided to “fix” it.
Never told me…
Supposed to be some rare deal that could degenerate into some rare form of Glaucoma if not zapped.
So, in I go for this laser dealie, drive yourself in, they say, drive yourself home.
Put some drops in (without explanation), strap me in and start.
How did it go?
Well, horrible is probably too harsh.
But I certainly wasn’t prepared for what happened!
They zapped me, it went out my temples, over the top of my head, down my neck, across my shoulders, down BOTH arms and the back of both middle fingers.
While my head is strapped into the guillotine and I’m screaming…
Virtually blind in the left eye when I got up.
Dark and blurred so bad I can’t make out a phone on the wall.
Then I got to drive home…
The headache is subsided pretty well (a little still there), inside it’s like I have sunglass lens on left…and blurry.
Doctor’s office called 20 minutes ago, had me look in a mirror.
Left pupil is a pinhole.
Apparently they paralyzed the iris for the procedure, but nobody told me, that’s why it’s dark.
They say it will be fine by morning, then I go back for a follow up.
Fun afternoon, I must say…
I am trying to work in the shop, right eye works fine on lower bifocals, left eye works best on upper.
I’ve got the glasses cocked at an angle to compensate…
