Large Scale Central

Do you really want a forum?

I seriously cannot figure out your intent.

You comments about how to throw shit at people is what has been discussed at length about some of your posts.

If you are saying things in an attempt to get a reaction out of someone, especially someone who threw you off his forum, that classifies as an internet Troll.

Just knock it off.

I don’t give a Randy Rat’s Ass what problems you have with folks, and I take it VERY personal when you start in about “crutch” as a jab at your disability.

Screw that.

It was just an attempt to gain support and folks to feel sorry for you.

Well, I DO feel sorry for you, but not for that.

Your assinine comments are uncalled for, your childish baiting is absurd, and you are fast approaching the “ignore” list.

Cool it.

Well , thanks for that , Dave .
I never had any mal-intent toward you , so I can only assume that you are trying to give good advice .
Mike

I debated posting this, because I’m trying not to hijack threads.

But, I feel we might be on to something here, so I will post, and this is for the harmony and enjoyment of all, please believe me.

I think I need to underscore some of what Dave just posted.

Mike, some of your posts in this thread are fine.

Some are, as I read them, an attempt at humor, but I think ill-placed given the current climate.

Then you post that the thread is hijacked when it wasn’t. I have to agree with the term Dave used, “baiting”.

Maybe you should look at this again, just read through the comments in these threads, don’t post anything, just read.

I think you have a lot of things to contribute to the LSC forums, but your “signal to noise” ratio is poor. Maybe you should ask yourself: “Is this post necessary, is there any chance it will stir things up unnessarily, is it something that most people will want to read?” before you post.

Indeed, there are many times on various forums where I think someone is out of line, or misleading someone, etc. But, I’m not the moderator, and it’s not my duty to keep everyone in line.

I’m definitely far from perfect myself, but I follow these rules and it helps me.

Regards, Greg

Absolutely.

Just back the hell off, enjoy the forum, and don’t be part of the bickering.

Lighten up.

I enjoy your posts on modelling, your photos, just cut out the personal crap.

I have folks out there that I don’t get along with, folks who are too stupid to know that if their Bachmann Trains derail it isn’t the fault of the gauge of the track (especially since it’s the exact gauge), and when I dare to suggest they check the wheel gauge they have a hissy fit.

But, I have to deal with them, and their barbs, I just don’t throw it back.

Even when they make personal comments.

You don’t have to A) start a flame war, or B) finish it.

Let’s just do trains with the occasional drift off subject.

And I am NOT picking on you.

Greg ,
Thanks for trying to help .
Of course I make mistakes , everyone does . I perhaps make more than some .
My sense of humour is different from a lot of people here , it is a national trait when Americans and British get together that causes --usually-- a great deal of fun . A lot of you on the forum are ex-servicemen . A great deal of service humour is based on insults . You know that , I know that .
I still move very much in service circles , even though retired . Happily I “mingle” with many nationalities ,including American , Canadian , Australian ,New Zealanders —in fact anyone who is involved in the Gulf , Afghan and associated wars . Thus my sense of humour is still current and exercised regularly with serving troops . It has not so far caused even raised eyebrows . I do get a lot of jokes about crutches . I appreciate them , the intent on the part of the jokers to include me in . I appreciate that .
The big difference on here and on the 'net is that people will make offensive comments deliberately and then hide behind an emoticon, the worst ever thing to hit the internet . A little yellow blob does not an insult excuse . So , I never use them . Note that people who do tend to drop them or go mad with them the worse they get .
If we stick willy nilly to trains so as not to cause offence , this site and others would drop away to fairly useless because a lot of people would not bother . No fun .
How many rail posts has Dave made recently ? Very few . Does that make him any the less valuable as a contributor ? No , because when he does talk trains , you know you can rely on him .
I am at the same extreme as Dave . I like a chat , too . I also know a lot about trains. So both of us , both prepared to give time to help others can be an asset to this forum . This site . Dave and I can both claim to have made net contributions to this site .
I confess to one mortal sin . I will not ever ignore a barbed thread . I most certainly do not start them , but will respond in kind . Everyone else does , so why not me ?
Finally , if you wonder why I do not attack Dave ,it is because I respect him and his point of view and sympathise with the position he is in simply because he does not know all the facts and never will . Ever .
OK ?
Oh , the “hijacked thread” was a sarcastic comment meant for those who were about to . That’s all . Not directed at anyone here so far .

Ah , the perils of simultaneous typing , except that mine is one finger .
The two posts above weren’t there when I started , so some of the stuff may not make sense–again .

Assuring you of my best intentions ,
I remain, Sir , humbly ,
your obedient servant ,
Mike .
'cos I know who pays me wages , mate .

Dave,

Minor correction: he wasn’t thrown off the RhB Forum, I deleted one of his posts that was speckled with swear words aimed at another member. Which resulted in a hasty exit. Even the record is still there.

PS Since this is Bob’s “house” and we are all invited to the “party”, I plan on sticking to the circle of acquaintances and friends who don’t mind me drinking tea.

H'mmmmmm. I just joined largescalecentral as I thought I could learn a bit more about "TRAINS". However I have found a bunch of childish play by a bunch of disfunctional arm chair modelers. Why don't you use your precious time to build something and help your fellow modeler thru some intelligent discussion. This exist's on more than one subject on the largescalecentral forum's. Over & outta here Larry Herget
Sorry about that Larry, I tried to keep it under control, but sometimes it gets away from me.

As for the rest of you, see what the hell your petty bickering does? YOU are responsible for this guy leaving the site. Do you think that weighs favorably on my opinion of you guys?
