DM&IR ore docks at Two Harbors

I found this on You-Tube while searching my favorite railroad, the Duluth Missabe and Iron Range. The ore docks are rarely used these days but fascinating to see in operation. The speed to load one of these beasties is impressive.

Ore trains are backed onto the docks on tracks four abreast. Legend has it one conductor assembled a train 4 cars too long and sent three of the cars to the bottom of the harbor!

Duluth and Two Harbors are rich in railroad displays and mining rail operations. Great place for railfans. The DM&IR is now owned by CN.

Nice Find! something you don’t see every day. Thanks for posting!

The CN in Conneaut Ohio still has an SD9 painted in the DM&I maroon with the arrow on it. It has survived the bessemer and CN paint jobs. Cool lookin loco and it is set up for remote control so you get to see it cruise around with nobody in it.
