Devon's 2024 MIK - Featherkile Furnance and Foundry Shipping Building

Oh man nothing like throwing a last minute detail on a guy. Probably no weather vane. I thought I was done. I got the roof on and painted. Got the stone foundation carved and painted. Just needs to dry and then add weathering powder. Was hoping to call it done. But then I forgot I wanted a chimney or at the very least a stove pipe. I don’t really have a place for a full blown chimney so I am gonna add a stove pipe.

It’s done. Will work on staging glamor shots but I am putting a fork in it. Simple build not a spectacular build but for a small back woods mom and pop foundry I think it will be a solid side industry when all put together.

The not so glamorous but obligatory washer photo, well they are dryer photos.

I should mention here for posterity that I evolved the PVC stone wall technique on the part for the lean-to. One thing that I did not like on the base for the building was the sharp 90 degree right angles. Didn’t look organic. Not bad enough to start over. But on the lean-to foundation I rounded and softened all the edges and it looks way better.

When I do the furnace proper and the boiler support i will use PVC and the same colori g tech

Rooster,

While the “challenge” project was to build the shipping warehouse, I host the club in June. And for that I an hoping to complete the scene. Need to get ahold of Llagas and see if I can get 2 #4 turnouts to make the switches for this siding. I hand it handlaid butnit feel apart in a year.

Me likes  Very well done, Devon. I agree on the easing of the corners on the foundation. Love the simplicity of this structure, although, I know it wasn’t simple to build.

OMG… The “F’s” are a thing this year…

You’ll see…

Do you need frogs/points from Llagas? I have some #4 frogs and points laying around…

Just curious how they feel apart since I’ve been using hand laid turnouts for a while just fine.

Maybe i should build some for you. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Craig all of.the spikes pushed out and basically the entire thing just loosened up and disintegrated. If llagas can make me 2 #4s I. Good

Did you use stainless or galvanized spikes???

I was just checking the time and thought the Mik had ended… it’s bad enough SOUTH AUSTRALIA is a half hour off all standard times, but then I saw South Idaho gets an extra hour of Mik Compared to north Idaho. Has the earths axis tilted?

nope, not yet.
but you are on summertime…

Oops I meant north and south had different time zones. Corrected edit.

have you never heard, that between north and south in the US the clocks go different?

No,
But I did find the line where suddenly when you order tea, you get iced tea.

if you look much further south you’ll find the most important line.
the line, that seperates where tea is drunk with milk and where it is drunk with rum.

ps: good night

Rum? Eeech, had an “experience” with rum that killed a large spot of grass at parents home years ago, so no rum for my tea please

yeah, that can happen. best is to filter the rum through kidneys, before applying it to grass.

won’t that make it hard to smoke? :sunglasses:

yes - but “they” tell us, that recycling is desireable… :yum:
