Devon's 2024 MIK - Featherkile Furnance and Foundry Shipping Building

Okay,

Finally a photo update

I am gonna make it no problem. All that is left is to roof the main building and ad just a few detail parts. Oh and make a rock.wall with the PVC as a foundation for the lean-to

I successfully made them in two pieces with pins to hold the lean-to to the main building. This allows them to be carried and stored separately to reduce the risk of breaking them apart.

I purposely made the lean-to with a different “construction” method. I wanted it to look like it was a later addition.

Excuse me sir,
The glamour shots are supposed to be on the washer/dryer not the stove.

Looks really good.

Those are progress shots not glamor shots. Lol

Nice job, Devon! The lean to definitely looks like a later addition.

Do we need to change the definition of Devoning? Now it means something like “finishing despite physical duress”?

Speaking of physical duress, notice the vampire shingles are blood red?

Slow down there Devon, Vic’s not finished yet. :sunglasses:

Yeah, talk about heating up the competition for the rest of us.

Again,
Trying to stay out of the build threads but awaiting the incorporation .

That’s funny right there. Might need a new rule. . .though shalt not finish before Vic.

It will be awhile before I can tackle the actual stone furnace. It will be a cool little area once it’s done and really should take much to.get it done.

I thought I posted these. If I did I have no idea on what thread. But after having door envy of Dave and Jim, I got over it and here is the door hardware details.

Robbed the sliding door handles from reefer car roof hatches. In true junk bin fashion.

One half of the main roofing is done. By end of tomorrow I should be close to done. It’s a lot less pressure making a plain Jane building. I need to come up with a stencil design so I can make the sign on the lean-to

Front man door handle is just a piece of styrene and a sewing pin.

Sorry Devon but with my car kaput and unable to get the last bits at the train show last weekend. I’m done, I have one last barrel to add and thats all there is.

Oh good I can finish now.

Love this build, Devon. Love the colors, the varying materials, the simplicity of the structure and the fact that its all scratch built. What are you planning to cover the roof of the main building with?

It is already half done and it is getting covered in corrugated tin via pop cans and a fisker crimper. But I have a bunch already made so no need to cut and crimp. Just glue.

Now I need to note here. I was going to distress this building and age it. Was gonna rust the roof. But I actually don’t want to any more. I like it as it is. So this will be a newer fresher building.

Your building is looking Old Timey :slightly_smiling_face:

Feeling good. Last of the roof is glued on. Just need the roof cap and I think I will be done

Will the foundry be casting a weathervane?
