Destruction, and violence

“hero and Michael Moore”

Now those are words that I had Never seen in the same sentence before…

Whatever happened to responsibility-you can’t govern or dictate that…it’s learned/taught/earned just as Mr. Hively stated, or at least that’s how we do it at my house.

cale

If you let a kid hand paint graffiti on a G-Scale hopper, will they think that is fun and start tagging real RR cars? Come on guys-we gotta teach them to respect others enough not to shoot them, stab them, hit them with a bat, blow them up…It’s OUR job.

Don’t forget that David slew Goliath with a sling-shot and 1 smooth stone…

I was not surprised at Aristo’s response, they have stated their position about their concern about being sued, thus the ban on discussing other manufacturer’s products. So, given that position, locking the post there conforms to their policy. I personally think their policy is overkill, but I respect their position and it’s their forum after all.

On MLS, I’m very suprised. I do not think anyone was endorsing violence.

There will always be guns. Teaching young people to respect them and handle them carefully is better than not teaching anything at all. I enjoy target practice, and while I do not do any hunting, I respect the right of others to persue this hobby.

I’d rather have the neighborhood kids on my side than against it. I viewed this post as combining target practice with model trains.

Regards, Greg

Good Grief…
Fred seems determined to force “his” view of how the world should work on every LS Train forum out here…what a waste of time & space…

Preachers & politicians…[:)]

Hero as in having the ba*** to use the system to stand up to the system.

CJ,

At least Fred had the courage to voice an opinion that was bound to be unpopular on “that” forum. You on the other hand called for “deletion” right off the bat. I guess having an opinion is OK just as long as it coincides with yours?? As I mentioned earlier it is a cultural difference. Mind you the part of BC I live in has some very “interesting” characters and sends some “interesting” people to represent them in Ottawa. But it could be worse…

@ Tony,

Yep, I really like Michael Moore, too. He seems to hit all the right buttons that either make people think or send them off the deep-end. No ambivalence that I ever detected in the viewing audience.  Anytime we go to see one of his films, the cinema is absolutely packed!

HJ,
I just didn’t see where freds rant had a place on a train forum…still don’t
& I don’t consider “Rudeness” as courage…just a lack of breeding, & consideration

The opinion as long as it’s freds, was what I got out of that whole fiasco…
I really could care less…Like I said…preachers & politicians, both are really useless

I too know some very interesting people in BC…Nanimo to be exact…so the point would be…??

I can see where moore would appeal to you…but if that’s your choice, & if he makes you happy…it tickles the hell out of me… [:)]
I’d like to invite him here for a little exercise…

I think Michael Moore is full of crap !

Bryan

I agree 100%…
That’s exactly what I’d like to “exercise” out of the idiot

I think he’s garbage…but this is a train forum & I’m doing my best to stay civil…

As you say, and I agree completely, this is a train forum.

Might I respectfully suggest we all stay away from politics lest a few, and somewhat unpleasant, home truths are aired.

Funny how everyone that is NOT a U.S. Citizen seems to think that I care about their opinion!

But to keep with the positive train news, today after work, I’m loading up the Thunderbolt Grease Slapper with extra trains and heading down the road to the first train show of the season in our area (Temple, Texas)…Two whole days of talking trains, Dudes…Two whole days!..It don’t get no better than that!

Unfortunately, I always spend more on new things, that I MUST have, than I make in sales…but that’s why the day job is required.

So with a hearty Hi-Ho…Nickel Silver…I ride away into the sunrise…

His anti-america, anti-military, anti-goverment-in-general and anti-anything he disagrees with rhetoric tends to get a bit old after awhile, especially when he fails to put forth any ideas on how to fix what he's currently bashing. Doesn't necesarily take ba**s to do that, just a complete lack of responsibility. His tendancy to twist the truth and facts around to justify his liberal opinions and advance what ever agenda he has at the moment doesn't sit well with some people. But he does have the right to his opinion, as we all do, and a great many "heroes" gave their lives so he can use that right.

We teach a kid to use a gun in a controlled environment shooting at a model train car specifically designed for that purpose and somehow someone feels the need to extrapolate that into , “the kid is now going to go out and buy a real gun and shoot at real trains!”

When I was a kid we plinked empty tin cans in the back yard till we ran out of ammo, then we saved up our pennies and asked dad to buy us another box. Never once in my twisted youthful mind did I ever consider picking up my .22 pistol and taking it to the grocery store to shoot at real cans.

When I learned how to drive a car at age 15, I never said to myself “boy, I can’t wait to go out and buy my own car so that I can run down a few pedestrians in the crosswalk”.

I’m pretty sure that the majority of us just aren’t wired that way.

…and I’m not at all impressed with Michael Moore. IMO, he’s an empty soul.

Now if they would use one of LGB's dynamite cars and the kids would use a sling shot with frozen peas, that would be a different story.

Of course that’s just my opinion.

HJ

Now you got the Little Buggers playing with dynamite…Then they will exchange the peas for ball bearings…Soon they will follow the path of Iran and try to develop Nuclear Weapons…and then they will try to take over the World (Canada will not be spared)…Where will it end, Man?

Doesn’t matter an asteriod is currently plotted to hit the Earth on April 13, 2036…Game Over!

Marvin,

Do you store ballbearings in your freezer???

BTW I’m really worried about the asteroid!

I have no idea what this thread is about. Shooting guns at toyrailroads? Nothamerican Folklore? Why does nobody set a link, if it refers to some other forum?

But the name Michael Moore is mentioned a few times. Just watched his Fahrenheit 9/11 film in the telly. An amazing number of Arab business friends around the Bush family and very good Rock´n Roll music in the American tanks in the Iraque streets. No gardenrailroads in sight.

Have Fun
