Large Scale Central

Delaware River Railroad Excursions

I am off this morning with the kids and wife to ride on the The New York Susquehanna & Western railroad. We get the train in Philipsburg NJ and it takes us to a pumpkin patch were the kids get to pick pumpkins. Then we signed up for the mine stop. Their we get to pan for gem stones. Should be a fun day. I just found out about this a few weeks ago. Never new about the train ride and it is only one hour twenty minutes south of my house. They also do the polar expres in dec, they have a wine train (Fred would love that one), thomas, easter train etc… They have a lot of great things. Here is the web site. Will post pictures when we get back. http://www.877trainride.com/index.htm

Hope you have a nice day for it. Should get some great pix with the fall colors.

have a good time. Look forward to the pics

Shawn,

I was in Jersey a couple of weeks ago and photographed the ‘Restored’ Maywood Station. I plan to build a reasonable facsimilie for my railroad (roundtuit). ‘Susie Q’ is probably the only standard gauge line I have any interest in.

We just got back. What a great day. The fall colors were past peak but at least their was leaves unlike at home where the trees are bare. We road the train to the winery then went back and got dropped off at the mine were we paned for gem stones. We made out great got some cool gems and even an arrow head. The left over smaller rock I plan on using for my ore cars. Then we stopped off and picked our pumpkins and returned. Took about a total of 3 hours. Next we plan on doing the polor express. Will get pictures up when I download them. One of Norfolk southern lines ran above the station and while we waited we got to see 5 freight trains go by all within a ten min span of each other. I would recomend this trip to anyone.

Cool!
Did you carve a pumpkin too?

Sounds like you and the family had a great day Shawn.
Bet ya got some bonus points for it that you could cash in at a later time. (after rug-rats go to bed maybe)
