Dear Mother Nature......

Dear Mother Nature,

Will I get to see my railroad this year sometime? lol.

The snow and ice was almost officially gone by this past sunday. I really thought I’d get to see the tracks again…Then yesterday we were hit with another snow storm. Topped off the railroad with another 6-8" of snow. On the upside, the weather man says it’ll be in the 50’s next week! Yay! I can start work on the layout again!

Here’s the latest mess. I took these today at lunch.

Get a plow.

Need battery power first. lol

On the upside, after all the ice and snow we have had, the tracks haven’t budged. I’ve not even ballasted them yet either.

Enough with the snow already is right. Today we were supposed to get 3-5 but ended up with 8-10. It is a shame my RR is so buried because it is the perfect sort of snow for trains to play in.

In the sunny Okanagan Valley we are usually not out of the “woods” before Canada Day (July 1st). June we frequently refer to as “Junoary”. While planting should happen the third or fourth week of May that’s sometimes an iffy proposition; plenty of rain and too cool for normal Spring.

PS the snow tires come off at the end of April, after my trip to Calgary. While an April snow storm in Calgary is great for shooting video, it leaves a lot to be desired on the mountain passes through the Rockies and Selkirks.

HJ - As beautiful as your part of the world is, at my age (which I think is pretty close to yours) I couldn’t handle that much winter. As it is our 2 months of deep winter is too much for me now. I’m trying to figure out a way to winter in So. Arizona and summer in the Colorado Rockies. Not likely to happen unless I win the lottery.

EDIT to add… I just saw this picture in the Spring Photo thread…

So now I have to re-think my above statement. Your definition of winter differs quite a bit from mine. We have 30+ inches accumulated in the yard. The melt has just begun.

Matt, I could see some bare track in the picture, that’s the place to start the plow… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)
