Anyone see that notice about a DD 40 X kit? BUddy of mine is interested, but I can’t seem to find it now. Not sure if it was on here, MLS or a Facebook forum. $500 down and a grand on delivery in 6 months.

Jonathan Huse posted it on the Gscale.net or G Scale Swap and Shop FB group briefly.
Pretty expensive for a kit. Later RJD
I assume 3d printed, will take a long time to print and a fair amount of plastic.

What’s he using for a motor block?

Not sure if you can see this if your not a member of the FB group but I believe he used and Aristo 3 axle block together with an additional 3d printed one to get 4 axles.

Pictures he sent he had bolted two USA 2 axle blocks together. Looked well done.
Weird, the video on facebook clearly shows an Aristo 3 axle diesel block in black with a white plastic extension on the front.
There is no mistaking the Aristo block in the video, since it shows the contacts on the top of the block.

Maybe he has changed his mind on his final design, that video was posted 3 weeks ago.

Pix he just sent me the other day he had 2 USA 2 axle blocks bolted together. So guess it varies. Finding a 3 axle Ariso block could be hard.
Yep, and probably a good reason for changing his mind, parts availability.
Can we see that picture Jerry? Just interesting when you go to this level.

Here is the real question, how will it do on my 8’diameter curves.
Well, hopefully you went to the video link showing the modified Aristo block, that was a 10’ diameter curve.
In my opinion, with the large side to side travel the Aristo “primer mover” gearboxes have, using the USAT 2 axle blocks will have a more restricted ability to handle curves, unless he articulates the 2 blocks, and articulating the blocks would probably cause problems with the sideframes.
So, I believe 8 foot diameter curves: no way…
Greg
p.s. even if he could squeeze around an 8 foot curve, think what the overhang would be, it’s already huge on the 10 foot curve, you would probably have terrible clearance issues on 8 foot
