Except for the special order to Taylor Tin for enough tim roofing to cover the new Blacksmith shop…
Looks like the factory will put in a bit of overtime…

So for todays fun… I got the facias cut, mounted, and painted.
And started up the production on Taylor Tin, special order for the Blacksmith shop.
Tin Factory running full steam tonight.

Obviously Taylor Tin does custom orders or all the building on your RR are the same size (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)They produce a quality product and the roofers did a good job, too.
Well Yes the Taylor Tin was a special order run…
I do know the owner and sometimes I have a bit of sway with his mindset… Not often but every now and then.

Worked most of the day at my Studio [ gotta pay for the fun stuff somehow] and all I got done was cut some tin for flashings…
And the construction of the false front.
Waiting on the glue to dry, and then mounting on the front…
Home stretch is in sight…

Worked again this am…But I got more done today
Got a coat of paint in the trim, and then walleyed around on how to do the back side. So tried my hand at faking boards and nails. Finished with a ink wash.
Came out OK for the first ever try… I got a lot of learning to go…But it will do…
Up in place… works out to be just as I designed…
And the back side.
Now to figure out the flashing… And tomorrow the signage.

Now Dave, if you hadn’t gone and admitted it was your first time making boards with nails, we’d all thought you were a long time expert. Looks good.
Had to work again today… It’s beginning to get in the way of fun…
Got the false front glued in place, and most important, the flashing fitted and glued down…
And the finished roof…Tah Dahh…
As far as construction goes… All thats left is to get the chimney mounted up…

So only thing to do now is to get the signage done… I have a couple of ideas on a new technics…

Dave, I know its an optical delusion, but in that first picture it certainly looks like the chimney is leaning to the right looking at it from the back of the building (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)Looks good. You’ve created a mighty fine blacksmith shop. I’ve really enjoyed watching it come together.

So for the signage. My plans are to use my DyeSublimation printer, like I did for the boxcars last year. The main issue is that the surface is smooth and glossy. Not necessarily what I want.
I really like Ray D’s signage that he puts on the scribbled wood background/walls. So I went looking for a wood textured, wood wall to use as a background in photoshop, and I had nothing that would work.
So I spent the time and made up this “Master” to copy. 1x6 boards, random lengths, nailed on 2 ft. centers. as would be like you would find on a large barn type structure. Scribed, textured, nails, and ink washed.
I’ll get a high rez photo copy made today and see how it might work… Off to the Studio to copy.
