Wow that is incredible! What a terrific build.
Actually, if you can still find one…,
Around the turn of the century, San-Val made and sold a four truck depressed flat car with a working miniature plasma ball mounted on it to go with the depressed generator flat car. One would probably be very hard to find now.
With some engine-u-ity, you could probably adapt one of those miniature plasma balls to go between the two big cans (apres challenge of course).

MIK 2021, 1915 GE Rubealattor on a Heavy Weight, Drop Center Schanabel car.
Still got to number and letter the car, but that’s it…

Wonderful craftsmanship Dave, I’ve only seen loads like that on standard gauge equipment so seeing it on narrow gauge looks really interesting.
Definitely got all those details spot on!
So How tall is this ? and are there any tunnels on your layout that this scary looking weapon/ X37 Space Modulator thing will fit through or to hid in incase the feds ( or Bugs) come looking for this??? Such an incredibly awesome build, not sure I want to ever put pictures of my lowly build in the same entry thread as your build.
Now you forced my hand… I really didn’t want to confront the monster…And actually measure…
The top of the Rubealattor sits 11 1/4" above the rail. The width is 6" wide. The total length of the car is 35 1/2" over knuckles.
With that Load… It won’t make it thru my tunnels…And it won’t make it thru one of my bridges… and I’m not sure it will slip thru the other.
And will it make it around my sharp curve? I guess I’ll find out come spring…

I guess a layout remodel is in store for this year
Not-a-gonna happen… My tunnels are made from 12" PVC pipe. And the lower one is 8ft long and 5ft down inside the mountain…
Now the bridges… they could be re-worked… But not the sharp curve…

Worse comes to worse, it’ll make an interesting load sitting on a siding…(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Or stuck at a tunnel entrance with a few guys standing around scratching their heads… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)
Nothing quite like building a gigantic piece of rolling stock that has to sit on a siding. Id offer to give it a home but it wont make it around mine either.
It is an awesome build
The wife gave me permission to sneak down to the studio so I could finish up printing the numbers for the car. I promised that I would be good…
I choose to number the “jeeps & the drop center” as a mated series, With one jeep as the “A” unit, the center as the “B” unit and the other jeep as the “C” unit…
Got the number boards for the cars printed onto .025 aluminum Dye Sub stock.
Time to cut them up and stick the last of the “Little Bitty” pieces on!
Stay tuned.

Hi Dave T.:
If it is any consolation, the real railroads had the same problems concerning “high - wide” loads. That is why clearance check cars (called porcupine cars by the operations department - due to the “feelers” that radiated around the loading gauge frame on the car) were constantly on the move over the entire route system. If a “feeler” gets knocked askew, the new clearance had better be recorded. Reballasting and other MOW functions could alter clearances that were deemed sufficient just a week before. Reballast a track beneath an overpass, and suddenly tri-level auto racks may have their roofs peeled back! Clearances have to be constantly be checked, and “safe” routes for a high - wide load are frequently changing. Today clearances are being checked with lazar measuring equipment, but the reasons and principles are the same.
Run your car where it can clear, and go virtually off-line where it can’t. In the real world, most high - wide loads have to take a meandering route to “avoid the squeeze.”
Best wishes, David Meashey
Final stuff… Got the numbers stuck on… Ta…Dahhhhhh!!! All Done and ready for the Glamor Shots…
And the other end…

Well, now its official (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-smile.gif)Job well done, Dave.
Unbelievable, Dave!
And just so you all don’t think that I’m totally crazy, look at this and notice the similarities…
See!! I’m not so far out of the loop…
DaveT.
That looks like a rocket ship ca 1935! Plenty of style, just missing the fins. Steam punk style
OK - Gang… 2021 Mik is over, except for the shouting… It’s been a great build year…
But. Tomorrow (2-9-21) I go in for heart surgery, to try and fix a couple of things left over from my Heart Attack a few months back… So you all play good and get the photos posted for voting. And I should be back in business before voting actually begins. If there is no input for a few days don’t be to concerned, just the way hospitals are…
Dave T.
Yikes! Hope it is as painless and boring as possible!
