Large Scale Central

Data? Marketing relationship Trainworld and St. Aubins?

For me, here’s a unexplained apparent relationship between St. Aubins and Trainworld:

In checking prices for a B’mann 3-truck Shay, I went to TRAINWORLD’S web site.
Clicking the graphic for the Bachmann Shay on the same line as their listed price, I got lgbpola.com’s site listing. There was no explanation. No option for a picture on the Trainworld site.
Clicking on lgbpola.com then brought me to St. Aubins.
The pricing for the same shay at St. Aubins was $519.00 vs. 495.00 at Trainworld. Price obviously was not the motive.

Clicking on the other large scale Trainworld Bachmann graphics for freight cars and locos, again took me to St. Aubins.

Is this a clever computer-savy hobbiest creating this link?

Is Trainworld and St. Aubins financially related per Bachmann’s large scale locos and rolling stock?

Anyone with any insight?

Wendell

Ok, I got ya…seems somebody is lazily building the websites? I think this question would be better asked on MLS, simply because STA is a sponsor there, go to the source sort of thing?

But I gotta tell ya, this intrigues me like mad, I’d love to know the source of this “new” confusion…thanks for bringing it to lite!

My bet is on lazy… email St Aubins and see if they are mad.

Greg-
I have an e-mail into St. Aubins.
Did you check out the sequence I noted?
Is it simply a case whereby Trainworld thought they were getting LGB promo pictures of the locos they were selling? If that were the case, a simply check would reveal St. Aubins is the end result – with at least one product at a higher price. Hmmmm. Now, there is an interesting sales gimmick - take the customer to the higher priced competitior.

“Never attribute to malice what can be attributed to stupidity.”

I vote for lazy

You must have woken up the programmer at Trainworld, 'cause the entire site is down at the moment.

I still see it, even after a refresh or two?

OK - It’s up now. I was getting timeouts earlier Would you buy a used train from this man ?

I see the pictures as being served by lgbpola.om, but clicking on the link just gets a 404 error now.

Ok I took a look at the code. The answer is they have the wrong code written to use the pictures.

From the way the code is done. I’m guessing the are using a code making program and not a person writing the code. What happend is common place for code writing programs.

Now, I could be wrong but that is my guess at what has happend.

Someone taking a few shortcuts, why create my own pic files when I can use these nice ones from over here…
