I just meant that since they do the same track, you could use their experience with it. That’s all. You don’t have to use it because they do.

Oh I am sold on this O18 idea. Shapeways has a cool little Shay built on a Bachmann chassis and some ore cars. You can get the trucks and wheel sets as well. I am going to expand the mining area to include a little run of O18.

No that Geep, even if it takes me until I die, is my baby. In HO I wanted to do STMA. Now that I am in G, I still want to do it. I love the look and the concept. Basically WAS the last true logging shortline. Owned by a lumber company and its sole purpose was to bring logs out of the woods to the mill and finished product to the Mainline for interchange. It’s a fractured shell of its former self now. So I really do want to make a tribute to it. Just need to get serious about at least working on it. They own three Geeps, and the Sw1200. And then the log cars. Not a huge task.

I know that will be my legacy. But at least I am having fun.
Not to get too far derailed, the STMA wasn’t the last logging railroad in the USA. That claim to fame goes to Simpson Railroad. They ran wet logs up to a dry sort yard, then dry logs back to the mill. Talk about cool equipment, the had one of the few dynamic brake equipped SW1200’s around. But I’ll give you the STMA as second.
So who’s stupid idea was it to switch to this scale? ;-). So over the weekend among some other projects I decided to play with an On30 skeleton log car. 22’ car ends up being 5.5" long. Thats small. Looks funny. But I am really pleased with the size when it comes to running indoor. I know I am going to like this a lot better. And I used I think it is Landral’s (Ty) way of making logs by using pink foam and making round logs then scoring bark lines and then painting, dry brushing, and then using weathering chalk to make some pretty cool logs for the one car that is about half done. I need to order some detail parts in order to finish it. Since this stuff will be up close and personal I am going to put some detail into them. But man it sure is tiny

Yes it is 5.5 inches long which scales out to a 22’ car. This will be about the longest cars I will run.
