D&RGW 315 to run at the Colorado Railroad Museum

Friends… D&RGW 315 will be running on the Colorado Railroad Museum for the Annual “Colorado Crossings” event as the featured guest locomotive on Saturday and Sunday the 16-17th of May. This years event is on the Florence & Cripple Creek RR. Former F&CC locomotives D&RG 315, GRS 20, and 318 (on static display) will be re-united for the weekends running.

I will be there Thursday thru Monday (14-18th). If you are in the greater Denver area, come stop on by, and look me up… I’d love to meet some of you 'all, and I’d give you a personal “Nickel” tour.

Unfortunately, I wont be in the Denver area until mid July.

And folks, I’ve had Dave’s “nickle” tour of 315 in Chama several years ago. I can tell you it’s worth a lot more, probably a dollar

Well darn Jon, I due believe that it’s my turn to by lunch, I owe you one… well we will be going back to the C&T after this doodad is over…

Last night we used 315 to do some switching in the CRRM yard… Shoving a F&CC boxcar and a RGS caboose… First time in over 100+ years A F&CC engine has coupled up to a F&CC box car…

Nice set of pics.

I’ve emailed him to see if I can share his pic of the locs in the roundhouse.

Mini pics are included in the group post:
Just tested - clicking on the mini pics brings up a larger version:-)
I’m not sure if NON-members can directly access the site.

Great pics Don, thanks. I was able to see them, even as a non-member of the group.

Thanks for the feedback.

I’ve been a member of that RGS group for a long time.

I have an answer:-)
I’ll post pic later tonight.

Hi, Don –

Happy to have it passed on. Nothing unique about it – there were dozens of us shooting the same shot. OK to share any of the other 315s as well. And thank him for putting on a great show for the rest of us.

Thanks for asking,
Bob C

I was given permission to share pics from the meet Dave_Taylor took place in at the CRRM.

Roundhouse:

In going through the pics I found a Pikes Peak locomotive being preserved at the museum. No direct, full on pics, tho:-(
I might have even ridden in it in July 1988!
Here it is sandwiched between work goose #6 and passenger goose #7.

OK guys… We had a really great time at the CRRM… I have a bunch of photos, but will try not to side track the others…

Here is one of the same line up, but from a different angle of every one else…Enjoy…

And something special for me… I drug a MIK build all the way up to Golden, and the CRRM has the Denver Garden Railroad Pike at the museum…

I begged and cajoled them to pull my heavy hauler around… and they were so nice to do it for me… Since I can’t get it around my pike, they ran it the most it ever has run… it stayed on the rails, and actually pulled well…

Anyone remember this beast…

A BIG thanks to the DGRA…

Was on Narrowgaugediscussion group looking for an On3 copy of RGS Goose #7 rear truck.
Found a video that includes Dave’s #315 on Youtube

There are other locomotives in the video before #315, too.
