D&RGW Parlor Durango (LGB mod)

More LGB passenger car work. UPDATE See below posts for Chama and business car photos

I have been contemplating adding end windows to my Durango parlor car (a modified LGB coach) for a while and finally got around to doing it.

Wasn’t super difficult but took a while to do. I used a small dremel cutting disk to start, and then a small hand saw to finish the cuts. Then lots and lots of filing. The windows came from an LGB 3081 combine…the underframe of that 3081 went into my Silver Vista scratch build project.

Amazing how two windows really improved the overall look. Now I’m wondering if I’ll do the same for my other parlor car, Chama, and business car B-3?

Nice

Yes, it really opens up the car. I like that,

Very, very nicely done, Matt… It’s quite an improvement… (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

Looks great!

Thanks all.

As I start on my business car project (B1, B2, and B3) I should have an extra set of windows (light wood grain). So the end window frames on Durango will then match the window frames on the side.

Very nice!!

Nice job Mat.

Chuck

Chama joins in. And matching window frames now. Hopefully I can get end windows for business car B-3 cut next.

Hard to see in these cropped photos, but Chama (left) has a Shavano drumhead and Durango (right) has a San Juan drumhead.

Got the business car end windows cut out (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

It’s numbered B7 now, but will eventually be renumbered to B3. Note the yellow closed vestibule in back which will have to be painted red. I also have B1 and B2 to paint red…all LGB cars.

Results are well worth the effort and dust. Where do the marker lanterns come from?

Thanks.

The markers (and lenses) are from Ozark Miniatures…their 1:20.3 version. The version that you have to drill out to light.

Ozark #1028 (Markers)

Ozark #1029 (Amber Lenses)

Started on a lighting project (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)
