Large Scale Central

CVSRy's first Plow Extra for the season

Fortunately, we missed most of the big storm that socked the South and North east over the last few days. We ended up with about three inches of drifting snow. Just about the maximum my wedge plow can handle. The crew ran into lots of traction problems. Probably due to improperly chilled equipment and ice build up, but they did manage to get all except the east leg of the wye opened up.

Clearing the Walk Landing siding - FF: Click to Enlarge - IE: Right Click Photo and select Open Link in New Window to Enlarge Unable to blast through the drifts in that last shot, the crew went back for more power. LV RS-3 #215 was tied on and they were finally able to get across the diamond and into Walk Landing. By this time light was getting too low for photography. After running over all cleared track a few more times the crew returned to the indoor division to turn the train and started shoving back up the line to clear the east leg. By this time the the train was running dangerously low on fuel, so the decision was made to abort and return to base. Unfortunately, that call came about 5 minutes too late and all battery power was exhausted with the train still out at Wall. Fortunately, a switch to track power allowed the train to get safely back to base.

That be some snow, still COLD and WET and I do not like it at all, but your equipent handled it well.

Thanks. I've always liked that spot too. That might end up being a tunnel portal next year. I came across a short length of 14" corrugated PVC pipe in a scrap pile at work that might get liberated :D

Thanks for sharing, Jon. Good stuff!

That Looks Fun and Cold!!!

Just a little bit cold, except when the wind was gusting - then it was down right freezing !!!

I have off work starting Wednesday. We have a rain/snow mix predicted for Thursday/Friday. I’m going to try and get the East leg opened up before that and run a live steam train before the snow washes away or becomes ice.
