Large Scale Central

CVRR OCS

.

So today I filed down and cleaned up the booth seats then drilled and set pins, rinsed everything down and primed “all” the seats.

While waiting for the primer to dry the crew started looking at rug and wallpaper choices. Then a very large discussion entailed as whether we go with a "dado rail " or coffered panels or lincrusta or just say screw it and sheet the walls with aluminum and call it done!

.

While the crew fought over the decor about how the wallpaper made their ass look fat.
I went to work on an “Art Deco” fixture for the car.

I routed around in the junk box’(es) for something and found nada. Then I looked around the shop and saw this. I don’t use the spout anyway so I thought I would put it to use.
Lets make some junk outta junk !

So today is my last day of play then back to work at my real job along with cleaning up other messes. Putting in spark plugs and doing a complete service on a 2018 Lexus RX 350 in the AM. Only good thing is the man or his wife like the Werthers Candies so there is always a bag or three in the car.

Every time his car comes in I tell him I grabbed a Werthers or three for the road test. Then I tell him the car is a bit unstable at 135mph and if he would like me to look into that next time I will. He always smiles and replies " This is why you service my vehicles"!

BACK to “Shed Time”…Got everything lined up and ready to be fixed in place with my favorite glue only after paint and decor.

Everything was going great testing out the modules and wouldn’t ya’ know it the freaking Government shows up with his badge. Good ole " Inspector Marconi" …aka (eagle eye, hollywood and dave according to his passports)

After the inspection the crew carried on with working on the black walnut and brass bar. Unfortunately that is as far as they got with play time. Honestly I’m not even sure why I’m doing interior anyway as I build to run roundy round on the 10’ rule using track power.

And with the Good Lord willing it shall be continued!

Still working the bar area but think I got it figured out. So while clear and paint dried I played with my wood! I had some nice hard walnut last time so I dug out a chunk of even harder Yew.

Now mind you that round these parts you gotta be cautious saying Ewe wood to loudly as guys come running while trying to pull their rubber hip boots on at the same time.

A neighbor gave me a few chunks of a small Yew stump he cut out of his yard about a year ago and I have been playing with this wood on and off since. Till you cut it down the workable material is very minimal on a 1:1 level so I’ll throw some in the car as the wallpaper argument is still on going and we are beyond that now!

Besides the Yew grain is quite unique and perfect for a Deco era private car.

While the clear coat dried I worked on the Deco era glass and brass (or aluminum) live edge table base . Then guess who showed up and was clearly into the liquor cabinet again!

Yes Hollywood I chipped the glass but it’s at the top and this stuff is expensive. Besides it’s ambiance/character.

That is some beautifully grained wood. Very nice finish!

It’s incredible grain and color ! I have never worked anything like it but it is very hard.

Is this the same verity of Yew wood that the old English archers made their Long Bows from?

I believe it is Pacific Yew judging by the color and grain. To answer your question, yew is used for making long bows and still is today. I didn’t do a lot of research on the wood when I acquired it though I just noticed the color on the chunks when it was wet and decided to cut into it which I’m glad I did.

Lots of us here suffer from that syndrome Rooster, I feel like I’m in good company. Proceed…

Cheers

Hey guys we gotta quit screwing around, the boss is gonna be here soon!

That looks awesome. Some extra characters to say I like your caricatures

I was honestly planning on making wall paneling with the Yew wood. Somehow after the evil of the internet searching out Art Deco then into Art Nouveau decor I ended up making freaking furniture! This is ALL BILL’s fault for bringing up interior on my Amtrash Baggage car.

As I have said many times in the past “Pictures say 1,000 Words” and all of mine are just from an old smartphone. I’m just enjoying “shed time” and at least remembering to take pics as I go.

Module 2 complete and ready for the crew to get it cleaned up and ready.

Adding both sides for Hollywood cause he always want to see the other side not just one.

That’s incredible work, Rooster. Jaw-dropping. I want to ride in that car!

As to going uber-realistic, I’ll hold myself back and not suggest dog poo under a table.

Of course now you will need a speaker to go with the camera in the car… for the Mel Tormé tribute artist…

:musical_note: :musical_score: :notes:

  • “Ba-doop ba-doo, clickety-clack, shoo-bee-dah the rails talk back”
  • “Sha-na-na, whoo-ee whee, iron horse swingin’ in B-flat key”
  • “Doop-doop-dee, sigh of steam, shoo-bop bop like a porter’s dream”
  • “Rattle-ta tap, ba-roo-ba-rong, all aboard that swing-time song”

Yeah baby!

I don’t care how many sides angles you show, in place or on the bench That car has come alive with you mind for scrap and understanding of the eras you have chosen to work from. Beautiful work Rooster. And to think there are what? at least 19 more cars to go for the train. my popcorn is ready and I am truly enjoying this show. hats off buddy

Not quite 19 but they will all have 5% window tint. If I decide not to use the furniture in the rail car I can always use it in my house. Besides this car is way to nice for my crew however I’m gonna finish it and in typical Rooster fashion it will all be “removable” as it’s all pressed and pinned in place

The main thing is I am having fun creating with '“uninterrupted” shed time for once and it’s quite nice making junk outta junk!! Haven’t purchased anything so far except more 22 gauge wire and resistors as I was out of stock on both.
What little CA I did use for tack up, I think I got more on my fingers than the pieces themselves. I did have to cut the “settee” off my index finger and thumb which we will call a “professional over sight” however I’m no professional so no FOWL there.

Beautiful house, loving the copper downspouts! Did you really make that from junk? Is there going to be a weathervane? :grimacing:

Last night after I left Grover showed up to get some practice in for tomorrows…
“Employee Appreciation” night. So the crew quickly moved the furniture and changed out the rugs so he can have at it.

.

This morning the crew worked on the end pilots and mounting the couplers. Quitting time is early today as it’s employee appreciation night.

.

The party started a bit early but hey they worked hard and it is the Holidays!!

I can’t believe Tigger showed up with his beer bong! Haven’t seen that schitzy cat in a stones age. The Friar, Padre, Taster of Holy Water, not his real name and only a nick name so to protect his identity we will call him Fredrick Mills. Partaking quite nicely I see while ignoring Cookie and Grover’s antics and fowl play as it is a sin and strictly prohibited !!

WOW , Rooster , just WOW
Grover needs to know to break that stuff up a little more or it causes severe nose bleeds which will stain the carpet!
Wish I had the talent and mind to think up and do things like that.
