Is there any good way to cut brass tube into very short segments? I usually use a tube cutter, but it won’t work for anything less than about 3/8" segments. I need to cut some much shorter than that, perhaps as short as 1/16". BTW, I only have hand tools – no bandsaw or anything like that.
Drill a hole the same size as the tubing in a hardwood block and cut off with razor saw?

I’ve been reasonably successful with a hobbyists miter box and a razor saw. A cutoff blade in a dremel tool should work also.
To keep roundness you might find a plastic rod or dowel pin that will fit inside. I like the idea of sticking the tube throught the block, but using that with the rod inside will make no distortion possible. Hope you can achieve what you want.
Not sure if you want to get any new power tools, but I use the mini cut off saw from Harbor Freight. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=42307
I get cut off disks from Micro-Mark. Yeah, it’s probably not as good as the $200 one from MicroMark, but at $20 from Harbor Freight, it’s a good deal. I’ve been quite happy with mine, and it’s easy to cut tubes without any deflection.
Twenty bucks for the cutoff saw sounds like the way to go. Thanks!
Just take your hobby knife and use it to roll the tube on your table. This will make a nice groove and you can snap it off clean.
