Cutting a square hole (with a LASER!)

David Bodnar said:

That is an EXCELLENT price, Dan - note, however, that it uses the older control board that does not appear to support CorelDraw.

I am tempted to get one just to experiment!

dave

If the only difference in boards is that one doesnt support CorelDraw, then Im not too worried about it, since I dont have CorelDraw anyway.

Damn… thats a great price.

EDIT: I’m hesitant, since this is a new seller, only 32 feedback, the last two arent positive, and he’s the ONLY seller with this price for this unit.

I just ordered one - at that price worst case I can use it for parts!

I wonder how slow the boat will be - says delivery between June 30 and July 10 - we’ll see!

Stay tuned!

Thanks for taking one for the team on this. Im still waffling on just biting the bullet and ordering one.

Bob - I have one of those funny feelings about the $99 deal - too good to be true and all that - I fully expect to get an email saying “so sorry but we made an error and can’t fulfill the order…”

dave

Now they are down to $79 from China - how low can they go?

Or they’re seconds or something. If a seller with a large feedback number offers one up I’d scoop it in a second. Have to keep watching

Oh, hell. While browsng the cutters, one with a 300x500 bed came up for $118. Bought one. Couldnt resist that.

Near as I can see all of the low priced ones have been pulled from eBay - could have been some sort of screw-up

dave

Yep. Same here. Trying to resolve it right now.

Wow!!! I hope someone here gets one that cheap!

I haven’t looked back at this post for a couple of days while I’m outside laying track. Rats.

I too was very tempted at those low prices…but…Caveat Emptor and all that…and the fact that the Chinese tend to put a huge price on goods when they run out…so why not a low one as a change!! (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)

Hope you are a winner Bob

This is getting entertaining - I received notice this AM that my $99 laser cutter / engraver has shipped! Even more interesting the $99 price is back from the same Hong Kong vendor.

Just looked at the ebay link and thre is a new message on it. Its says: This listing was ended by the seller because the item was lost or broken. Interesting to say the least.

Dan - you may want to ask the fellow if the program was ever registered - if so the serial number may not work… otherwise it should be A-OK!

My latest experiment was with scaling down a drawing from CorelDraw. The first small shed that I “printed” was for G-scale. I wanted to see how it would look in HO scale so I made the original drawing 25% of the size of the original. Some minor adjustments needed to be made but the HO building turned out well. More details are here:

(the squares on the paper under the sheds are 1cm on each side)

Thanks David: I will check with him. if it doesn’t work its not that great a loss as it only cost me $16.00 from a gentleman in Canada.

David my name is Ray Ihave been teaching my self the laser . Iuse CorelDraw X6 it is the brains of the machine. It has been a steep learning curve but manageable, with mentor ship. Inhave a Epilog 12x16 laser , very happy with it and the service from them . Epilog held my hand and guided me to get up and going. Is there a way we can open a dialog. RAY

Good deal on the work with Corel, Ray - drop me an email ([email protected]) and we can discuss what you are doing off-line.

Seems the Chinese 40watt lasers have increased in price with some dealers They are the ones headed NEW for 2015.

They say that it contains a new light…Laser or just illuminating of interior? and a “lifting platform”

Not much else to justify the price hike that I can see…They do not even have limit switches fitted.
