Hi Kevin,
I am new and just getting started, this would be a perfect engine for my up and coming narrow guage layout! I will buy it , just one question: does this engine have all metal gears and gear box? I bought a 2-8-0 bachmann before Christmas from eBay and it would not run…broken plastic gear. I am in the process of returning it and this one looks great.'m
Brad,
There replacement gears and complete gearboxes for the 2-8-0, if you are interested.
I bought a Barry’s drive for my 2-8-0.
Welcome to LSC!
Hi John,
Thank you for your reply. Say , it looks like we are neighbors, is there a large scale club in the Spokane area?

Brad,
Like John said, you can get Barry’s Big Trains gearbox and you will have a "bullet-proof engine. Makes the Bachmann Connie a true workhorse. Don’t be too hasty to return it. I have one and had Barry’s drive installed. I love that locomotive!
From other blogs I read Barry closed up shop, anybody know if that is true?
Barry closed up shop, but the understanding is that he is still doing a few things here and there. Sorry, I don’t have a link or phone # for him

Brad,
There is: the Inland Northwest Garden Railroad Society. We have members from Eastern Wa and North Idaho. Even though sometimes the President is from Wa, the club is registered out of Coeur d’ Alene, Id.
There are several members who participate here on LSC.

It’s NOT true…he’s just cut back on work a little. I have a friend who just bought a new BBT drive for HIS Connie about two months ago.
AND I just bought a newly designed lead truck for my Connie from Barry about a month and a half ago. He’s still here, believe me.

I need to get me one of these…
Barry’s Big Trains website closed down quite a while back. So I was unable to order a new drive for my 10 wheeler from him. I have heard that he is still around, but I don’t know how to contact him.
David,
Do a search of the members on LSC and you will find Barry’s posts. He has given his latest contact phone number in these posts. Should not be a problem.

The $210 includes shipping IIRC.
