Large Scale Central

Current and future projects

With this strange weather the country has been getting I was wondering what are some train projects everyone is working on and what are some spring projects:
For me I am working on a

  • small tender for my porter
-I want to make a work caboose using a bachmann flat car and a new brite caboose
-Want to convert my new brite boxcar into something like the last issue of GR had on converting the new brite boxcar.
-I also want to attempt to make some of my own figures (that should be intresting)
    -Eventully repaint my big john
-Kitbash my HLW tip ore cars and MAck
    For the Spring:
-Expand my current layout and add about another 50ft of track and a siding
-Redue my stream by making it a little deeper and adding more rock to the sides and have more cascades.
-Redue my trestle by making it longer (possibly make a covered bridge)
-Put more boulders into the layout

Im sure a few more projects will come up but for know I have plenty to do.

Shawn,
I have numerous projects to complete, including six extended Bachmann coaches, several tram/trolley projects and a modified 4-6-0 ‘ten-wheeler’ Annie and a 4-8-0 Mastodon Annie in the works. Most are at, or close to paint stage, but I always find a reason to start a new project.

Butchering a perfectly good loco… what else?

Now I just need to figure out what the polarity is on the plug so I can resolder the tender wiring…

I can only think about one project at a time otherwise nothing gets done. Started on a scratch built wood flat yesterday morning. Got all the lumber milled up today/tonight. Made enough cedar sawdust to fill two gondolas ripping the framing for 2 flats

I started a thread over in modeling on it - EBT Tank # 102

I’ve got the
11 HLW Flats to up-size
2 New to me LGB 0-4-0 to convert to battery
3 Delton Hoppers to build out/up
1 Bachmann Tanker to do the Ric-a-roni
and not to mention the American and Climax that need batteries…oh, and the rebuild of most of the trackage…whew

Let me see -

2 projects in progress - a new farm house for the main layout and 1/24 rail work car

3 7/8’s projects planned - upscaling a Bachmann porter to a forney, a small coach and a 7/8’s scale combo depot for the new layout

bashing my 3 Aristo Sierra cars into 2 longer cars similar to what Marty did.

and a top secret project that is actually four plus projects in one and will make its debut in York.

that may keep me out of trouble

-Brian

Top secret, eh?
Nothing so glamorous here.
I have a half dozen structures to build.
Several pieces of rolling stock to repaint.
A Buddy L loco to rewire and paint.
All my rolling stock needs lettering.
And when things warm up I need to complete my second line, which includes several bridges that need built.
Ralph

Nothing spectacular here either…

Doin a bash on the B’mann logging caboose…

Hope to expand the layout in the spring and add a water feature.

Got a couple of buildings out in the barn that need repairs, but right now, there’s no place to put them, so that’s on hold…

May get a bug up my a** and build somethin, but nothing comes to mind at present…

Working on finishing the plumbing, brickwork and trackwork of the Valley Power Plant, plus always have rolling stock to modify/destroy/upgrade/change/abuse.

Currently, am building the tables for the city industrial area for the basement… Too cold and wet to be outside doing any work… Wife is painting buildings, and putting them together… I’ve got more projects in my mind to do, than Carter has pills…

But, Ric’s Power Plant is looking good, saw it yesterday…

Somehow, making a living as suddenly become a major project.

I just posted my Challenger bash in the general forum. Should keep me busy for months!

Current project is to sit on my hind end, drink beer, wait for spring and get idea’s. I actually need to make some deck girder bridges yet. I can’t really plan, I find what I’m after and just make it? Would like to take a crack at some 72’ center beam flats outta box steel though. Kinda kicking that idea around. I have a mountain of outside work come spring though!

Cale, Aren't the flats sized about right for your 2 LGB loco's? Ralph

Yes, but the 0-4-0's can fit in with Fn3 pretty well, so they all get upsized!

Enjoyed the visit as well…the Little Engine was torn down this afternoon and washed prepping for paint and EVO!!!

I’m scratch building some log bunks. Perhaps I can get some pics later.

I don't kit-bash my locomotives or rolling stock, but I HAVE been collecting BOTH new engines and passenger cars for the layout for this summer. Any locomotives placed on the line have to go through one of two battery conversion shops. New consists include a complete Aristocraft Milwaukee Road heavyweight consist headed by an Aristocraft F7A and B Milwaukee--already converted. It took quite some time to put together the various coaches for the Milwaukee Road since these units have not been available for several years. I also have four converted Aristo streamliners in Milwaukee Road that are custom-made. These will be headed by another Milwaukee FA7. I will be reproducing the restored Milwaukee Road depot at Cle Elum, Washington as part of this project.
