What happens to all the shirts, jerseys, sweats and jackets printed for the loosing team that never show up on store shelves? They’re given to World Vision. A kid who has never had clean, much less, new clothes to wear is delighted to get a brand new, never worn, in the package shirt with an American team on it. Tom, That’s a good thing! The confidence will keep you running at a steady pace and the terror gives you enough speed to cover the distance.
Those poor, poor Cubbies…
I was hopin for a Chi/Chi series.
j
its baseball…who give a rats furry behind…
Andre,
I do.
Played little league, grade school and high school, and for a US Navy team in Pearl. Then on to various rec leagues.
There’s a hell of lot more to it than 9 guys in the field and one up to bat.

Good luck with the marathon, Tom! If you need encouragement, go rent “Run Fatboy Run” good flick about a guy trying to run a marathon also.
most boring game ever…watch the guy make a pitch…5 minutes later he makes another one whoopee…
Andrè Schofield said:Ah, but Andre, once that pitch is made, an infinity of things can happen. That is what is so exciting. I am sorry that you do not understand the game.

understand enough to hate it! Now CHESS!!! There’s a game worth watching!!
Hehe
Andre, you must have grown up watching Kurt Goudy, “Bottom of the 8th. No runs, no hits, no errors” Dad’s asleep on the sofa. I’d go do something else.
Like I tell my sons when i take them to a ball game, it’s a thinking mans game - GO DODGERS!
Judging from the amount of beer sold at the last game I went to, I’d say it’s a drinking man’s game.
I find myself much more fond of minor-league ball, at least from a “going to the game” standpoint. Even the cheap seats are great. Watching it on TV, there’s got to be something at stake for it to be interesting to me–either a close game, or a late-season run to get to the world series. (Too bad the Rockies returned to reality this season.)
Tom, good luck with the marathon. I’ll be back east listening to the whistle of EBT’s #15 as it winds its way up the valley.
Later,

“Go Tom” and “Go Kevin”. Glad to hear you are both doing things you want to do. Wouldn’t even think of doing what Tom has been training to do, but sure would like to be doing what Kevin is doing. I’m afraid there has been just too much fun this year and I have to stay local and work. Both of you enjoy and Good Luck in your endeavors.

Wonder how the Dodger’s feel, “Big deal, we beat the CUBS.” Thought maybe the goat curse had expired.
I realize they were in LA before I was born, but they’re SUPPOSED to be the Brooklyn Dodgers.

The Brooklyn Trolley Dodgers to be precise
OK, if Boston beats the Rays,
and “Brooklyn” beats the Phils,
Do you think the crowd will blow kisses to Manny when he is introduced in Boston?
That I gotta see!
We’re still booing A-rod in Seattle.
jb and I are old enough to remember when Frank Robinson played for the Brooklyn Trolley Dodgers! Those were the days. Class was suspended during the World Series and the games were piped into each classroom via the b1tch box. There was no such thing as the League Championship Series. Games were played in the afternoon, as baseball is supposed to be played, not under General Electric’s lights.
Some of the best games I’ve seen have been from the nosebleed seats at the Murph in Sandy Eggo, with the kids in my Scout troop.
Oh yah!
I remember in the fith or sixth grade, our teacher brought in a tv set (b/w) and adjusted the rabbit ears and we all watched the series!
WHEN the DODGERS play the Redsox I think both Manny & Derek Lowe will hear it from the Boston fans! I remember listening to the '55 World Series on the radio on our front stoop trying to picture Amoros’s catch & throw and Johnny Podres mowing down the Yanks, it was a great thrill for a 8 yr old Dodger fan. When my mom and I moved out of Brooklyn to detroit in Jan, '57 I never thought the dodgers would be leaving soon after. I’ve been to Chevez Ravine (Dodger stadium) and it & the area around it is beautiful but Ebbetts Field was special.
