Was the tender on the Crescent Limited actually connected to the engine?
I’m gonna go with “yes” …why?
It sure looks it to me.
Nice to see such detail in the old photos.
Why would you think it wasn’t?
Funny how people put the word “circa,” thinking to sound impressive, when they know the date. “Circa 1926” means “in the cycle of 1926.” Meaning: After 1916, but before 1936." Of course, this may apply to these photos. It does not apply to the little bronze mermaid at the Chicago Botanic. Her plate says, “circa 1973,” but they know she was made in 1973 as they knew the artist who made it and obtained it from her directly.
And now you know.
I think Doug means to ask if it is part of the engine frame. From that angle, with it’s normal close spacing to the engine, it looks like there is no space at all between the tender and loco.
Doug - it would be semi-permanently coupled with a draw bar the same as any other loco-tender combination.
