Creating a RR herald

I’m trying to design a herald for my railroad, and I’m considering a circular style. However, I can’t figure out how to create text on the computer that wraps around a circle. I’ve noticed that many of you have heralds like this, so how did you do it? What app did you use?

Ray,

There’s any number of apps that will do it, but a drawing program like CorelDraw leaves you all the choice in just where exactly you want the text.

Or you could try one of the free drawing programs i.e. DrawPlus 4

I know Stan Cedarleaf does this for folks…and Del Tapparo may do it too? They both own Large Scale letter/sign business…both can be found on My Large Scale…I have utilized both and have been pleased.

Del utilizes Vinyl letters.

I used the Waterslide for my engines and the vinyl for a “special project” I’ll debut in a few more days!

both were easy to deal with and very “customer service oriented”

My RR is backwoods, redneck owned, and broke…so we just letter with no herald…though I think they really look nice!

I used Adobe Illustrator to create mine. Not a cheap program nor one that a novice could get much done in as it has a very steep learning curve. I use it in my work, so I have access to the software and know a little about using it.

Corell Draw is probably the easiest and least expensive way to do it yourself. You might find the free version of Corell bundled with some color printers.
