Large Scale Central

Coupla things, here

  1. Just got back from three weeks in Orygun, and currently employed scraping some of the moss off from between my toes, and wish to say a big thankyou to my nephew, young R Smith of Port Orford [where the 101 has a traffic light], for putting up with us and our strange little ways for four days or so. After the first torrential downpour the guys in the Paradise cafe treated us just like any other locals, bitching about the rain. Thanks again, Richard and Helen, great coffee and even greater pie. When all is said and done, and the last sunset has closed up for good and all, if there is pie to eat while watching it all happen with friends, then that is good.

  2. Thanks to the site owner, young Bob, for getting me back on the site. for some rerason, if I access the site remotely, it forgets who I am.

Hmmmm, maybe it’s trying to tell me something. Ya think?

Best to all

The pleasure was all ours I assure you. We had a most enjoyable few days with you and Gaynor & Ig & the crows (wish it could have been longer) even with the “slight” drizzle we had while you were here. I’m glad you had Ig along to speak for you. He is quite eloquent.

At least this time we were finally able to get you into the Cape Blanco lighthouse although I’m sure the highlight of your visit was to see our blinking traffic light in person. I understand they’re taking up a collection to buy a parking meter which is sure to be a major attraction you’ll want to try out next time you’re here.

Welcome back to the Olde Country Tac. We have had glorious weather while you were away lol. It looks like you brought the rain back with you! aaargh!

Anyway I am pleased to hear you all had a great time but I had wondered why you did not make any posts. I thought, like the early explorers, that you might have fallen off the end of the world. lol

Afternoom, All. To tell the troof, arriving back here in yUK was like getting hit with a large grey hammer. Walking up the stairs in Heathrow terminal 3, past the duct-tape mended carpets [last fixed in 1998] and the general squalor of the old warehouse appearing structure, creaky narrow escalator and then into the maelstrom of the arrival ‘lounge’ to be confronted by the burkha-wearing ‘British’ immigration official was only the beginning of one of the most down-heartening experiences in my life, and something that I dread whenever I leave Canada or the USA and come back here.

After that, it just got worse.

By the time the taxi had dumped us back at the twig, almost three hours later [the M25 orbital road has been undergoing a fourth-lane upgrade in parts, causing 30-40 mile tailbacks], I was about ready to cut my throat using a handy spoon.

I started saving up for my next escape at about three this morning, when I sacrificed my renewal to ‘Garden Rail’ and ‘Garden Railways’ to the vacation fund.

Alan - while I’m away in furrin places, for reasons that are inexplicable to me, I am no longer considered to be a member of this website by the robot that runs it. I had to enlist Bob’s assistance to get me back on again, as I hinted at in my first post.

And now, when the rain stops, I’ll be back outside playing with a train…

WoW! tac, sounds like Heathrow degraded to a ‘second world’ country. I only landed there once in 1969, must have been the same carpeting.
