I will also be out this year.
However I will be working on my build for the Drag & Brag. Details in a separate topic to come.

Uh-Oh…
Stick with me kid, I got a million of 'em.
Hey Guys… That would have been a contender last year…
I thought about it, but I wanted to give youse guys a chance!
But y’know, that car was a tad short, so I went up.
Mostly I like teasing my buddy , goes way back to my initial greeting, I believe he had a list then too…
Like a lost puppy he followed me to ‘his’ home! (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-innocent.gif)
I picked an articulated train, so it wouldn’t fall over as easy… something about a hanging center of non balance … on a circle it can be solid… there you go … dream on grass hopper.
John
If the rules involve building something I need, like an industry or a specialized freight car, then I’m in…
Hang on to the seat of your pants … until we are informed it seems no amount of persuasion has influenced our leader’s notion.
2 years ago the Door gave me a layout building, last year’s short flat car, not so much, but it’s a cute Object d’art on the Train wall, so I can’t complain.
John
“greeting” was that what you called that. Well I am still here, the pipe that holds dreams has had to be increased significantly and I am still working on that first build. I did follow John home initially for this very build challenge and stayed because of the hospitality.
John has been full of ideas. . . that’s not a compliment (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif). . . but alas here we are.
I wonder if Victor should work with rubber and his entry for the Challenge could be a car that bends around the Pizza layout?

I need a relief builder, I am a great opener I just need a closer. I ordered the RC equipment for the GP-9 but I may just very well throw it in the Mogul. It needs to be done and it is oh so close. Seems a shame to power another before fully consummating my relationship with my first love. She sits on the shelf waiting only for a hand rail, a union with the tender, power and wreathing job then we should be able to light the boiler.

John, I agree with you. I was able to get projects off of my “someday list” with the last 2 build challenges. I have only been here for 2 of them.
So, considering how darn long my list is, and how many different projects are on that list, I should be able to “bend” the rules enough to encompass one of my “someday projects”. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-sealed.gif)
well, the original idea of the challenge was to actually get something, better said: anything, built!
(thinking about, but not mentioning Devon’s posts above… - oops)
with very few exceptions, we all are building hundreds of projects, only to stop right at the point, where we would start to realize them.
(and concerning these few modellers, that surprise us with realized projects… maybe, they are just sly enough, not to write about projects prematurely)
remembering Mik’s works, he was not afraid presenting projects, that were just 90% perfect.
he just did something.
he had no garage, no workbench, no advanced tools.
but he had some junk, a knife, glue and lots of imagination.
maybe, we should go back a little bit into that direction with the challenge?

Hey, I resemble that remark… I did actually finish my build challenge and on time thank you(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif). I actually have three completed projects. Just not the first one I started (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-undecided.gif).
Good point though. I actually just missed getting involved in the challenges when they were at MLS. I came here because of the challenges specifically. What got me so interested was the ingenuity people used to build some great stuff basically out of nothing. I felt last year reflected that well. My build was not on my bucket list, it was not useful really (other than I came up with an idea for chain binders), but t was fun.
Don’t join this challenge because you need something, or have a project to cross off. Join because it is just fun to build and be creative. It is a hoot to see what people come up with given the same starting platform. It’s wild the direction people go. Do it because it is there to be done.
It is fun to build! Dave, I just saw you asked what we were building. Since a lot of us can only use metal wheels, how about building something from that supply of plastic wheels we have? I just added some more today!

Just to be clear, given my age (way too far gone) and the poor state of my health (way too much at risk), I am always conscious that my time is probably limited, and my modeling time certainly so. That is why I restrict myself to making things I have a place for on my pike.
If the challenge rules can be bent to jive with my requirements, then I’m in.
This is not to influence the uninfluencable!!! I’m happy whatever the outcome, delighted to participate if it makes sense to do so, and just as delighted to watch everyone else’s progress regardless. Cheers, all!
