Cooking fun foods

Bill, my brother in law and a friend went moose hunting and got one , I think he said he had 200 lbs of meat. He has a large freezer in the garage.I have a small one in my garage , and maybe 10 lbs of moose left in there

I wish moose was more readily available to hunt. They are very limited in the number you can harvest in Idaho. Like one a lifetime. Not something we can go hunt every year. But Elk is another story. Elk is equally good. Different but good. But even then Elk hunting is tough, not like the good old days when we could harvest just about any elk. How it’s mature bulls for the most part. Not an easy prospect and why I gave up on it. Deer is easy but of all the game it’s my least favorite

Covid ruined a dream hunt. My friend lives in Alaska and invited me to come hunt caribou but it fell through. Hopefully I get another chance.

My brother in law got the moose in nearby Montana. So go east young man!

When I win the lottery I will.

It’s that expensive to go from Idaho to Montana? It’s only one more tank of gas, right?

I believed Devon isn’t allowed in Montana any more .

Its not the price of getting there it’s the price of out of state hunting fees.

Yes Pete they still allow me in Montana. I have to wear an ankle monitor but they let me back in.

I just made Pete’s normal everyday internet chili, but substituted beef, veal and pork for the buffalo and moose. Herself is balking at the “everyday” description. I reassured her that if I made it correctly it should be repeating by itself. I think she will understand that later on tonight!

You too? Although they call mine a leg band.

This post should be called cooking fun foods without a stove/oven. We are installing the new counter tops and getting ready to pour the epoxy so for probably the next week I won’t have a stove. But I have enough electric gadgets that I won’t miss it I don’t think. But tonight is Asian Fusion night. Making Mongolian style noodles and beef. Served with kimchi from Korea, and my first ever attempt at sushi from Japan.

California Roll.

A California Roll is something completely different in certain parts of Pennsyltucky!

Okonomiyaki tonight.

Okay Bob I’m intrigued. What is the paper looking stuff? That looks good.

Bonito flakes. Dried, smoked, thinly shaved bonito (a kind of tuna)

Bonito looks really interesting at the Sushi Train as the lid comes off it moves.

Bob,
Do the home made Bonito flakes dance?

Dancing Bonito Flakes

Interesting. Might have to give that a try. I love tuna. Where do you get it? Assuming an asain market?

Yea, we’re lucky to have an Asian market in town, and an Indian market about 3 miles from here. Half the stuff in my pantry and spice drawer is labeled in languages I can’t read or speak.

Indian is tough buy Spokane has at least two well stocked asain markets. And since I work within 10 minutes of both I can aquire hard to find Asian “stuff”
