Glad you got some nice weather. It’s been cold, wet and miserable here.

…And here we sit, pretty much frozen solid and under snow until around the end of March, and with frozen fingers until Mid-May. Envying your ability to get out there and do stuff, Ralph! Enjoy, you lucky man!

Guys,
The largest photo that will display correctly on the new site is 800 pixels wide. So that the pictures aren’t chopped when we make the change, I sized them for the new site
Ralph
So make them 800x instead of 640x. I find 800 wide to be plenty big.
Well,
The next size on my resizer is 1028 wide
800 is better than 640, but I do prefer the 1028.
I’ll have to reduce the resolution I take the pictures to get the image resizer to do a 800 wide.
Currently shoot 16mp. I’ll have to try 14mp or 12mp.

The one I enlarged for you is 453px × 768px. I used the Microsoft Power Tool re-sizer for Windows XP, available free from Microsoft.
Joe Zullo said:I'm using W7, Joe. I had problems when I tried to use the XP image resizer some time ago. It installed, put didn't function properly. Ralph

Irfanview is free and will resize to anything you want. You can even do batch resize / rename - http://www.irfanview.net/
Thanks, Jon.
This does the trick

nice work
When PhotoStudio first came out for the Mac I was able to get a free download. It has worked perfectly since the day it was installed. And is really easy for resizing, editing, etc.
I mostly use ACDSee that I got a long time ago. I like it’s Explorer like browser and other features like basic photo enhance that is easy to use. I have no idea what it currently costs or if it’s even still made. I use Interview mostly only for the batch re-size.
Jon Radder said:I have used ACD See Pro 2 since I bought it in August 2008. It was offered as a free trial for 30 days. But after a couple of days of using it, I decided to buy. I believe I paid $125 then, including a back=up disk. Great product.

Someone, somewhere, in a galaxy far, far away and a long, long time ago (on LSOL, I think) recommended Paintshop Pro. I’ve been using that for picture editing for about 20 years and if it’s easy for me to use, it’ll be easy for anybody. Whether it’s still around or not is anybody’s guess.
Hey Ralph Im waiting for those snow pictures… Unless you got rain instead.
Looking very nice, Ralph.
This is good for quickly resizing all selected pictures: http://imageresizer.codeplex.com/ I set it to custom size and make it 800 x 600.
I like it because it installs itself on the menu you get when you right click a picture, making it very easy to use.
I picked up a nice Pola coaling tower at a train show last week.
Because the tower loads from behind, I had to install another track on the Pacolet Valley RR yard.

The loading track runs from one leg of the WYE and cuts back into the last yard track.
I have a water tower on the way. Now I just need a sanding tower.
