I’ve been thinking about this for a while… The railroad’s original name North Slope & Southern came about because I was going to start building on the North side of the house on a significant slope, and head for a terminus in the Southern part of the yard. That’s not what happened when I started construction. The North Slope ends up being the destination goal, rather than the origin. The NSS logo was blatantly stolen from Norfolk Southern because the initials fit and the edits were easy with simple software. I never liked the fact that the logo says Class 1 while I think of my railroad as more of a short line / tourist hauler and museum. The name has lost the relevance it had when I started planning the RR. I think I’d rather use a name that has some geographic significance to where I’m really located; in a valley near Lake Candlewood. I also want initials that aren’t too long for a tender… NS&SSRR is a mouthful. Thus was hatched the idea for a new name - the Candlewood Valley Scenic Railway - or C.V.S.R. My graphic skills have come a long way in 5 years, thanks to acquiring Adobe Illustrator at work, and many of you know of my fondness for the EBT, so borrowing their herald outline fits with my thinking. Here is one of my concepts for a proposed new logo…
