Conical rivets?

Any suggests on how to make conical rivets? Or where to obtain them?

I 'spose Phils are flat and not conical?

These are prolly too big.

Ah, the joys of large scale. Counting the rivets is the easy part. It’s making sure they’re the right shape that’s the hard part!

Hi Ray,
Just Google - Conical Rivets.
Up come a few places. A couple with odd scales.
One place in Australia does brass types for German WW2 tank models.

You know, the first time around, I read that as “Comical” …

No, the comical rivets are on Bachmann Big Hauler tenders.

John, thank you for that WEB site! Most interesting material.

Thats a dangerous website to go to. Spent far too much money there in the past…

Perfect! Thanks!

What are you going to make, Ray?

I have several projects in mind that will need conical rivets. Don’t know yet when I will get to any of them, but knowing I have a source for the rivets means I can bump them up the list a bit.

Ray
I use Grant Line rivets http://www.grandtline.com/model_railroad/augmentables_pages.htm
(bottom of this page) I use the 156 round and their are good for G scale.
157 is what you are looking for. They sell them in bulk pack (100 sprues with 25 rivets to a sprue). Call them to order in bulk around $27.00.

Are the cone on the Grandt Line rivets as short as it appears on the drawing? The one on the drawing looks almost flat.

I forgot about the Grandt line ones. I had a bunch of the square ones (3911) that I used for end-beam nuts for truss rods. Good stuff.

I can't say for sure on the cones, but I know that #82 is not flat like it shows in the picture. I've been using them on my hopper project and they have a short tail - enough to hold grab irons in place.
