Congrat's Mike Omalley

Mike,
Saw your 2 minutes of fame on PBS “History Detectives” last night “Labor Day”. I remember you talking about it in a thread somewhere but could not find that thread so I started this one! I love that show and it was quite informative! Guy’s keep an eye out for it!!
Great job and very cool!!!

ROOSTER

Cool. I’ll have to keep my eye out for a repeat episode.

Dang. I wish I’d seen that. Way to go Mike.

Wow, did Mike do a nice job.

Hope this helps.

I caught that last night, too, though didn’t have a chance to pay too much attention to what was going on, having to do such mundane things as work. (Benefit of working at a TV station–I can watch the competition while I edit.) I had two connections to that show–Mike, and the Genessee Country Village, at which I’d done many regional history stories when I lived in Rochester. (I lived 10 minutes away. Great place if you’re ever up in that neck of the woods.) Congrats, Mike.

Later,

K

Thanks Joe.
Didn’t know PBS has the shows available on the web-site.
Ralph

I wish I knew about that. Im sure it will be on again or on the web.

Hey thanks! I’m just glad I didn’t look like a complete fool! They did do a very good job of research. I was impressed.

Thanks for the link, Joe. That was quite interesting. Good job, Mike.

So…where do we line up to get an autograph?..

Hehe! With my usual astute powers of observation I just found the link to the program (thanks Joe). Congrats Mike. Good show!

Nice spot there Mike.Don’t believe you even came close to looking like a fool, far from it. Thank you Joe for the link

A fascinating history of a clock and its connection to railroads. Nice to see you ‘in person’ Mike.

Thanks Joe for the link.

Very interesting story! And I guess we will now have to start treating you with respect Mike.

I already know what I want him too sign! Get your sharpie ready Shawn! :)

So now we know what Mike looks and sounds like, and that he is probably a tenor.

I never sing, the results are unformly awful.

I liked how they made it seem like I lived at the Adler planetarium, in the basement with the astrolabes. The Adler planetarium, if you’re ever in Chicago, is a pretty amazing place–an incredible location out in the lake

Going to S. Korea tomorrow with my father in law. The Korean govt. offers free trips to Korea for veterans and one family member. My father in law enlisted in the Marines in 1946 and ended up as a three star general. He said “as staff historian, do you want to come along?” I think he wants to relive the days when he had an aide. I’ll be doing a lot of interviews with the vets on the trip. But no tv. My two minutes of fame are up

Mike,
Have a safe trip and take a few pictures of the trains for us

Thanks for posting the link. I actually saw most of this episode, but missed the first segment with Mike. Thanks to the on-line version I was able to catch it.

Great job Mike
