Commercial replacement for the LGB cleaning block?

Anyone have any experience with a replacement for the red LGB track cleaning block’s rubberized compound? My guess is this rubberized compound is not unique to LGB. The red plastic cleaning block itself betrays as an adapted sanding block.

REPOST: I am not familiar with the 3M product Wendell, but I have found all sorts of alternate uses for the crepe rubber block used for cleaning sanding disks and belts.

When I mark lumber with a pencil for cutting or layout, theses crepe rubber blocks make great erasers.

Just saying.

Sorry Wendall. my question showed up here rather than where it was posted!

Please give a brand name of the cleaning block you use for sanding discs – and a source, say, Home Depot?

This, of course, isn’t the only source for theses cleaning sticks, this is just where I bought mine. I hope this helps.

I saw the video from ShopSmith – and the “fetching dog!”
The expression used was an “eraser.”
Have you used it to clean your track? If so, does it have any silca or fine grit cleaning power – which I think the LGB block contains. The first question is the best one: What is its track cleaning power?
If it is effective, I could make a holder for it adapting a drywall pole sanding block.

Many thanks.

My apologies Wendell (and all) this product does not seem to work for this application.

I have used it for other “erasing” jobs, and I frequently use a pencil eraser to clean brass electrical contacts, but when I rubbed a mildly corroded brass track with the crepe rubber block it had very little effect.

Using a crepe rubber sanding disk cleaner as a brass track cleaner is a: MYTH Busted

Thanks for the response.
