You’ve got mail!
Combine is sold, and I just reduced the price on the Business Car. I need the space!
Anybody want to loan me $375 ???
Too bad it isn’t the “Nomad” on the D&S.
Then I’d buy it!
How much for the glasses? I broke mine today!

I mentioned your comment to Alan (owner of G.A.L.) as I’ve been telling him there’s a small demand for the D&S ex-D&RGW Business cars. B-2 and B-3 are certainly do-able. We have drawings for the clerestory insert, sides, and even fancy railings.
He’s always looking for new projects. Would you really buy one? Do you want a kit ($100-150 plus the coach) or a made-up ready-to-run car, like mine ($375-400) ?
Using the Accucraft J&S car as a base means you are stuck with the length. We have been known to stretch/shrink the dimensions to make them fit - the car looks in proportion but a rivet counter might object. Still interested?
Piercarlo - email bounced. Not sure why.
The silence is deafening. Guess nobody wants a model of D&RGW B-2 “Nomad” ?
Pete Thornton said:I get told my prices are 'too high' when stuff doesn't sell.... even when they are in the ballpark of what things should be worth based on what I have IN it. But other folks usually think your labor is worth about the same as a chinamans, and the rest should be 50c on the dollar or less, it's just the way things are.

Personally, I wouldn’t pay that asking price for a locomotive, let alone a car. But then I’m poor and you want the equivalent of almost a month’s rent on my house. It might be worth it. It might not. I don’t often (ever) shop for new Cadillacs either.
Pete,
Sorry for the delay.
I’ve been doing research (UK kits as well as GAL).
I haven’t made up my mind yet.
I also may pick up the next brass Accucraft parlor car that comes along.
So, no for me right now.
John,
Thanks for the reply. I appreciate your original comment was ‘off-the-cuff’ so I didn’t expect too much - I thought there might be some interest on LSC in a unique car like B-2 ‘Nomad’, but this recession isn’t helping.
As you probably discovered, having to pay $200-250 [$350 in the UK] for a coach and then another $150 for fancy sides makes it an expensive proposition.
[Mik - I didn’t attempt to recover the cost of my time. There’s at least 20 hours of work in that Business Car plus my paint, styrene for the windows, corners and other small parts. Guess I do it for fun.]
I’ve talked with Alan (Mr G.A.L., who produces the kits) about the cost, and his suggestion is to forget the Accucraft coach and scratch-build the underframe and end platforms. Trucks can be found - even Bachmann coach trucks are adequate and cost at most $13 each ($17 with pickups for lights.) Ozark has lots of the small parts - or the Bachmann coach, for $55-ish will provide a lot of them.
The biggest problem, as Don Winter discovered with his coach kit, is the roof. Those curved ends are a bear to make.
Nice pass car but out of most folks price range. Even for me. I’d bid on the glasses al;so lost mine last week. Later RJD
The unique, finely crafted, worth-every-penny-it-cost-me Business Car is sold.
Still got the full baggage/express car. That’s also pretty unique.
