Color Help

Hi all,

Does anyone have suggestions for how to color-match a locomotive? I want to re-letter my Piko mini-mogul and I like the green. But, I’m not sure where to start (besides spot-testing) to find the right match. I typically use rattle cans for painting, if that helps at all.

Thanks!

I’ve had some luck with the glidden color match tool, it uses uploaded photos to suggest a match. I used it on your photo and it came up with the color Armory. Link to the tool below.

When I bashed a combine for my LGB short car Pennsy train I brought a car to Lowes and they were able to scan it and produce a test sample jar of the exact shade. I did have to brush it on but that was okay with that style of car.

Tamiya spray paints have a large variety of colors. I use them frequently.
Here is a color chart. Click on any particular color for a larger pivture.
Maybe they have a close match.

I get my paint from Burbank Hobbies.
