There’s a vast difference between saying “We’ll have a million mom’s” and then getting 60,000, and saying “we’ll have a rally” and having 100,000 (estimates) show up.
There have been lots of large events held at the Gateway Arch. For years a huge 4th of July celebration was conducted in that area. I believe it is very easy for officials to take a picture of the crowd, put a grid pattern over it and come up with a reasonable guestimate of how many people were in the area. So I don’t think there is a valid reason to question the total.
Economically the area of St. Louis and East St. Louis are extremely depressed as most major businesses have moved their headquarters and business to nicer areas. The welfare governments of St. Louis and East St. Louis have controlled the areas and all others have left.
I believe the Espanic, Bosnian, Oriental and Russian gangs would like to challenge people claiming all the turf belongs to the blacks. You go down there and bring it up, I think I’ll just watch the evening news for the highlights. Low income Democrats and the liberals that support them probably enjoyed BHO being amongst them. I’m sure they had a good time.
Mike,
You said - “Do I think only poor people on welfare were at that rally? Nope. But apparently you do”
I do think the rally was made up of poor people and those that support them and the redistribution of our wealth, what little we have. Once again, you think you know what other people are thinking. Your wrong.
You wrote this:
“Photo was taken at the Gateway Arch sitting right in the middle of two states (Missouri and Illinois) and two of the biggest ghettos in the USA (St. Louis and East St. Louis). Think of all the money the government could have saved on postage by passing out their welfare checks right there on Saturday.”
Now as of the 2000 census, 97.7% of East St. Louis is “Black or African American persons.”

So are you telling me you were referring to the less than 3% from E. St.Louis who are “Espanic, Bosnian, Oriental and Russian?” You were referring to the well know E/ St. Louis Bosnian Ghetto? The one Elvis was meant when he sang “in the ghetto?”
I guess then you are arguing that "“Espanic, Bosnian, Oriental and Russian?” people are all on welfare?
Or it’s a mixed crowd of “people on welfare and those favoring the redistribution of “our” wealth.” “Our” wealth? What does that mean?
Again I have to ask, what band warmed up the crowd with a free concert at the Arch?
That was the claim before–that 75, 000 people turned out in Oregon for a free concert by the Decemberists–the Decemberists, a band that routinely fails to sell out 1000-3000 seat halls. But sure, if you want to believe the crowd was only there to see some local indie band, go right ahead!
“I have it on good authority that Obama nevertheless won the Oregon primary, but: perhaps! Though someone more familiar with the band might do well to point out that, as the Decemberists are a modestly successful indie outfit, more apt to perform at venues such as the 1,200-person capacity 9:30 Club, it would be more accurate to suggest that the promise of an Obama rally is a great inducement to come see the Decemberists, rather than the reverse. Additionally, there wasn’t anything to prevent rock fans from leaving the concert upon its conclusion.”

Ah yes, the Huffington Post, another bastion of journalistic excellence.
Just take a look at where the Decemberists play then

Does it look to you like they draw 75, 000 people?
Do you think the “Edman Chapel @ Wheaton University” holds 75, 000 people?
