Cold weather brings snow to Southern California

Just as I was starting to think about winterizing the snow fleet and start off-season modifications and repairs to the equipment, mother nature brought a quick storm and several inches of snow. Crews quickly assembled Plows 1 & 2 back to back, and a tool car with the standard snow power set to quickly clear the line. Normally the Russell plow would be first out, but it was buried in the back of the car shop. Since the last EMD acquisition some time ago, the elderly Alco FA/FB set are only used for snow removal and the occasional work train.

Better you than me!
Thanks for the pictures. I live vicariously through others

I agree Ralph. We had our share of snow this winter. Snow pictures are always great to look at.

we only got a few spinkles out of this last, hopefully THE last system, by my observations we got over 30" and maybe close to 40" of rain this year, I dont know the complete total because the 6" rain gauge overflowed at least 5 or 6 times

All I got out of this last system was 70+ MPH winds. Stilll windy here and making it hard for me to stain the ice house.
John nice shots, dont get much snow on the SoCal desert floor.
