Code 322 Rail width

I hate add a new topic just to find an answer to this question, but a few google and LSC searches have turned up nothing.

How wide is the rail head of code 322 track? I’m looking for the widest width out there. I know it varies some between manufacturers in code 250 and would assume it the same in the code 322 arena.

I’m working on a new loco carrier and want it to be able to mate to any track.

Thanks Guys!

Only the inside edges and top need to line up, if the rail head is wider it shouldn’t matter to the wheels.

Aristo SS , 0.142" note the rail head has a slight trapezoidal head wider at the base (of the head).

John

My guess is that the carrier drops onto the rails. Thus the width of the top of the rail is important, there are probably slots in his carrier for the rail heads.

Greg

Greg is correct, although the design I have in mind is more of a step than a slot.

Given John’s stated dimension of .142", I went with 1/4" to be safe. I doubt there is anything out there much wider than that.

I’ll be sure to post pictures when it happens…

Thanks Guys
