Coach Null Gets a new pair of shoes

Last year I built my first coach which was based on a lot of OR&L shop built coach elements. I called it Coach Null because there were no coaches even close to it in length and width or number of seats. It did however look pretty close to an OR&L coach except for the trucks.

This week end I remedied that by putting the first set of OR&L shop made trucks on her.

She looks even more like an OR&L coach now! The new height of the trucks also brought the coupler closer to the prototype height. This is the first time, I’ve tried creating my own trucks from scratch and then casting them. I’m very happy with how they turned out. I was a little concerned about the brake beam hangers coming out , but they were good enough that only a small amount of fill was needed, and it sure speed up the assembly process, even though there was a lot of clean up.

They even look ok with the deeper flange of the bachmann wheels which I took from the original trucks above.

I really like those trucks.

I like deep flanges, those finescale ones always derail on me. Jerry

Great trucks, I love the detail in them!
