CO. Red Mountain adventure

Spent the day in CO tracing the Silverton RR ROW from Silverton thru Red Mountain. My friend Larry Brewer and I went looking to find the exact location of the Silverton RR Red Mountain Station location. We found it plus a couple of surprises along the way. A couple of pics to start this thread. I want to edit most of them and draw lines where the old ROW was and the location of the buildings and etc. to show where the train went. General location of the Station, My truck would be parked on the front dock. The station was in the center of the “Y” The square remains to the right is the old jail house, other then mine heads the only structure still standing. Looking N from the side of “The Nob”. Elevation 11,000 ft.

The Yankee Girl Mine Head, The Tracks double switched back down hill to service this mine.

A beautiful fall shot high in the Rockies. (I’ll have to research which mine this is)

And the Yankee Girl Mine from US 550 across the gulch. Looking East, Elev. 10,900 ft.

All in all a pretty great day of trekking. A Lot more to add to this thread in the days to come.

Looks like fun Dave
