I have a ways to go before I get good at this but ya gotta start somewhere, right? Here is a general sort of critter I designed paired with a USAT motor block. It’s cut out of a sheet of 5mm ply with acrylic windows on my CNC machine. Painted with ‘John Deere’ Yellow. I think I went through 4 sheets before I got the design all debugged but it was a fun learning experience. The pattern was drawn in Inkscape and the tool paths plotted with PyCam.
I like it! (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)
Well done!

What he said. Bravo Zulu.
Martin, which USAT motor block did you use?
Thanks, Greg
Well, I looked on the block and it doesn’t have any ID or anything so I’m not sure really. It’s a 4 wheel one, I picked it up at ECLSTS a year or so ago for $50. It had little sliders on it and pickups inside which I removed. I hardwired it so I can put my little xbee widget and some batteries in there. I figure it doesn’t have to go real fast
Wow, now thats nice. And I am a steam guy and I like it.
That is very nice Martin,
Did you cut this on a cnc router?
Got a picture of the machine?
Dennis
Yes, a Probotix X90. It has an 18x18 inch X/Y working area with about a 3.5 inch Z. I’ve only done 2D cutouts so far. I will need some ball end bits to do 3D. I’ve only got 1/32 inch endmill upcut bits now but they work great for cutting out patterns in wood and plastic. I also have the SuperPID speed controller for the router, you can see that up on the wall. I use an old PC running LinuxCNC to control it. Way more machine than I know what to do with but I’m learning! Great fun. Best machine I ever bought. Well, almost
