I’ve tried spraying my cars/trucks windows in the layout with UV spray, but they still seem to ‘fog’ up and become opaque. Anyone have any ideas? I tend to leave them out all summer.
Maybe that product they sell to polish plastic headlight lenses will clear your fog and keep your protection.
I use it on my headlights and it’s easy to do. My lenses get opaque and the polish makes them clear, the oxides are external.

Hello
I wonder if you replaced the windows with a thicker plexi. I have lots of plexi glass on my buildings which are out all year and they are fine.
I have a bachmann combine used as a yard office and those windows are getting foggy after years of being out. I also have a HLW passenger car used as another office and those windows are actually warping which is weird.
I don’t know what to suggest.
Jerry,
Try Makrolon Polycarbonate from Tap Plastics. It is supposed to be UV resistant. It very strong and flexible making it nice if you have curved surfaces. See link below for more info. Copy and paste the whole link it may not fully load from the link as shown.

Jerry, I’ve noticed that the “UV” spray, by itself, tends to fog up the winders. I doubt that putting in a different sort of plastic would help, much.
Another thing that I’ve noticed is that windows, in real life, left unwashed, tend to fog up on their own, UV spray or no.
My windows in all of my buildings are acrylic, or polycarbonate. No fogging or yellowing at all over the years.
Well,I was talking about the windows in die cast cars. Might not have been clear(ha!) in my post. Most are curved. I have replaced older cars that had a flat windshield and that has worked out, guess it was UV safe. Seems some boat guys posted about some UV spray that was good, can’t recall.
Jerry,
I suggested Makrolon Polycarbonate for exactly what your are writing about. The thickness is 1mm and very flexible. It doesn’t crack and is very strong. It is used for outdoor commercial signage that has to endure UV and weather for many years.
What do you use to glue Makrolon Polycarbonate?
Have you tried Future floor polish? I think that’s what the military modelers use on airplane windows. Don’t know what its made of, or how long it will last outside, but its cheap & easy to re-apply.
Dick,
Try this, Devcon Plastic Welder from Tap plastics.
Thanks, Dan. We’ve got about three Tap Plastics stores in the Sacramento area. Perhaps I can get a scrap of the plastic and a bottle of Devcon Plastic Welder, too.
If it ever stops raining (did I actually write that), I pick some up. I’ve got die cast cars with bad windows and old buildings that need glazing, but I bet a square foot would last for years!
