Clear flat sealant that is UV proof

Hi guys,

What do you apply to your finished wood structures to preserve the finish? In my case it will be a weathered finish.

Krylon clear flat

Flat or satin polyurethane. Several light coats, the first being somewhat dilute.

It seems to work well on my wooden boat, too.

Krylon actually has a UV resistant spray that is a flat finish

Clear exterior stains made for decks and siding. I like Lowe’s Olympic brand. No ideas what you Canucks have available to you.

Nothing. I let 'em weather like an old barn. Any finish, the bond will fail. Meanwhile it’ll seal in moisture, and prevent the wood from drying out. An unpainted fence will last many times longer than a painted one. I apologize, I sing this song quite frequently…

Thank you, gentlemen!

Since these structures are intended for inside and outside, it seems prudent to

a) preserve that pre-weathered look (straight out of the box)

b) do it prior to installing windows etc.

c) apply a finish that is as flat and durable as possible

Time will tell and I’m sure customers will let me know if the stuff is up to “Standards” (or not).
